Kidney Stoney pain that doesn't go away

Hello,

I wondering if anyone else is having the same issue.  My husband, 56 excellent health, was diagnosed with a small, 3mm, kidney stone 5 days ago after a trip to the ER due to severe pain.  They said to go home and wait.  2 days ago we ended up back in the ER because he was having pain for almost 12 hours with no relief.  The hydrocodone he was prescribed does not help at all.  They gave him dilaudid, which took the pain right away for about 12 hours, but it came back and lasted most of the day. That was yesterday and now today the same thing. Going on 12 hours of non stop pain.

He has not had a bowel movement in 4 days, had any food in almost 3 days and is barely able to keep down even water without vomiting.  Dr's in the ER say he needs to just wait it out because his stone is small.

He's taking ibuprofen every 6 hours, hydrocodone every 6 hours, Flomax once a day, nausea medicine, ex-lax twice a day and even a ducolax suppository, which hasn't helped at all.

I'm going crazy that dr's aren't helping and there's nothing I can do to help.  Everything I read talks about severe pain, but I haven't seen anything about the pain lasting as long as his.

Any thoughts, suggestions, advice?  I'm desperate.

Thanks,
Lisa
