high glucose in urine

ok i have recently taken a urine test because i had some kind of uti they said there was a very high abnormal range of glucose in my urine but when i came back the next day they gave me a blood suger test which was normal does anyone know what may have caused the high glucose in my urine?

Hi,

One thing to consider for elevated glucose levels in the urine is diabetes mellitus.

Do you have a strong personal or family history of diabetes?

I suggest that you have blood tests done to determine fasting blood sugar levels. An oral glucose tolerance test may also help establish if one is prediabetic .At this point, I do not  want you to worry. As other causes such as stress ,exercises and a recent meal intake may cause increase levels of glucose in the urine. This may be true in isolated cases.

An initial work up may be necessary just to check blood glucose levels. Your BUN and Creatinine levels may also be checked to get a baseline evaluation of renal function.

thanks for the quick and informative response! yea i went to see my doc today and he wasnt worried about it the doctor at the other clinic said there was a significantly high amount of glucose in my urine and to follow up with my normal doc which i did today all he did was stick my finger and did a blood sugar test it was 97 which they said was normal he said to come back in a few months for re testing should i get a second opinion?
