Infected kidney stone

On Dec 4th, I had my first kidney stone rear its ugly head.  According to the CT scan, it was stuck entering the bladder.  Finally came out 6 days later at 7mm.  Since then I have had medium to mild kidney pain off and on.  I have been under the impression this is normal even though its been two weeks since it left.

The only concern now that I have is what the stone was made up of:
Calcium Oxalate Dihydrate (Weddellite) 10%
Calcium Oxalate Monohydrate (Whewellite) 45%
Carbonate Apatite (Dahllite) 45%

The first two are food related but the last one (according to what I read) is an infection.  I read that you are suppose to be on antibiotics when you have Carbonate Apatite in your kidney stone and have UTIs (which I get often).  But my PA won't put me on antibiotics because my UA did not show an infection.  But I read that the bacteria is nanobacteria and is hard to detect in some labs.  She did have me redo a UA today.  I don't know the results yet.

My concern or question is...can I have infection and it not show up in the UA?  Should I be on antibiotics?  I really wanted to see a urologist but the PA wouldn't write me a referral cause she said it would take too long to get an appointment and this was something she could just take care of.  My concern is she doesn't know enough about this and could be putting me in jeopardy.  Or does a clean UA mean absolutely no infection in the kidney?  And if so then why was half my stone made up of substance that indecates infection?  Thanks for any help on this!

Thanks for responding to my post.  My test showed small amount of bacteria.  They considered it normal and did not put me on antibiotics.  My kidney has stopped hurting and I feel better.

I was just concerned because I read that if you have a kidney stone made up infectious qualities then you should be on antibiotics or it can damage your kidney.  I also read that sometimes the infection doesn't show up on UA tests.

However, since I feel better I am assuming I am ok.

Hi,
I understand your concern regarding your kidney stone. Urinary tract infection usually show in urine tests. What was the result of t he urinalysis? A urine culture and sensitivity test  may be done also to determine which organism is present and antibiotic is effective treatment. Talk to your doctor about the management plan. Indeed, waiting for a urologist consult may take long and it is important that management is done immediately. Drinking plenty of fluids is also highly recommended. Take care and do keep us posted.
