Kidney infection help

I was recently diagnosed with a kidney infection, my right flank pain is still present and I still have spouts of feeling ill after taking 3 doses of my perscribed Anti-biotic  (ciprofloxacin). My doctor told me that I should feel better within 24 hours so I was wondering if this is  normal or if it is something I should be conserned about. How long after taking medication will my pain go away?

I too have had this problem. I would say try Bactrim or any other antibiotics then if that doesn't help you need to check for a kidney stone. Also they need to do a urine culture that grows the bacteria and that will show the best antibiotic to treat it.

ehite2,

I'd have to be honest with you in that I know next to nothing about kidney infections and how long you should feel uncomfortable. Now, if it was a kidney stone problem, I'd probably be able to help you with my experience. May I suggest that you post your question in just the kidney forum, aside from this kidney stone forum. Good Luck and I hope you feel better.
