Does this mean he will have to take the chemotherapy on top of all the other drugs he is taking. I think he is on at least 4 different drugs, I'm not sure if they are all against the virus or are for prevention of some other illness.

Yes, there is such a drug (it is called Rituximab). There have been some experience with Rituximab in the setting of HIV lymphoma. The results however do not support its routine use. Ultimately it is question of CD4 counts - because Rituximab preferentially affects the lymphocytes ( which are targets of the HIV). Its best for the infectious disease doctor and your medical oncologist/hematologist to discuss this.
