I have four children born after my service in the Gulf all have disabilities or birth defects. My 16 year old sons skull did not develop properly my 19 year old daughter was born with hernias My 8 year old has Autism and my baby shes 7 is now being tested for leukemia. I have no answers to any of it. Im 100 percent service connected with multiple disabilities myself. I have received no answers from anyone in the government about any of it.
Hi, here's an article from 2004 about depleted uranium, with various names of investigators mentioned:

Hi:
My husband was in Dessert Storm. He had been healthy all his life, never needing to see a doctor for anything except sinus related. Then, a little over a year ago he developed a rash on his back and upper legs. We thought it was a allergy so we kept changing things in the house, diet, etc but nothing worked. Finally, in February after he passed out twice in our kitchen, we took him to the hospital and he was diagnosed with lymphoma T-cell. I had read something on the internet about a study that was being done by a company on the correlation between soldiers in Dessert Storm and lymphoma but they stopped the research because it wasn't cost effective. Go figure! I am now trying to find the article again so I can contact that company and find out more.
TYPO. CORRECTION ON PRIOR POST. SHOULD BE JUNE 13 1991 NOT 1990. ALL THE WAY
We gave our government a blank check payable with our lives. There is NO DOUBT that these and other ailments are related to our service in theater (Southwest Asia) what shocks me is how quick the VA is to deny our claims. With the basic form letter. After careful review blah blah blah there is no casual connection with your ailment and your military service. BS! !! I was a Sapper with the 18th Airborne Corps. The NBC alarms would go off all the time and were summarily dismissed within minutes. But the sweet smell just didn't mysteriously just appear. I became violently ill when I arrived on September 21 1990 after being administered vaccines for NBC attacks. Which we now know were never tested. We were the Guinea pigs. Then we find out (recently) that our MOP gear was ineffective. I left theater on June 13 1990 as our unit was assigned the dubious duty of destroying the Chemical weapons that were seized and that were given to us pursuant to the agreement that ended hostilities on or about March 1 1991. I was told by the great medical personal at Ft. Bragg that the bumps and lesions I had in my arms and upper torso were bites from Sand Fleas. ??? WTF? ? Upon my discharge I sought the medical care of a physician back in Chicago who conducted numerous tests and told me rash was a result of exposure to petroleum a Toxin! ! The Deet we applied is now banned. The enriched urinium we were exposed to is a known carcinogen. As an 03 I have kept in contact with most of my men. It is shocking to hear their stories. Leukemia Brain Cancer ALS MS children born with severe deformities. But the government tells us their is connection at all. Out of 130 men in my company I would venture to say that nearly all of us have had some sort of illiness and ailment ... the mortality rate of Desert Shield/Storm veterans is off the charts !! Why is that? It was a 100 hour war but an intense war.. it is without doubt that the soldiers sailors airmen and marines that fought in desert storm were without doubt the finest troops our military has ever assembled. We restored pride and confidence in our military that was absent since the Vietnam war. I still vividly recall when I came back to Bragg a Vietnam vet was there and he approached me and gave me a salute which I promptly returned. Then he placed his arm on my shoulder and thanked me on behalf of all Vietnam veterans and then looked me in the eye and said "Captain enjoy the moment the moment we never got. We were spit on and called baby killers. But remember one think the government will soon enough forget about you because there will be other wars"
Now that you mention it, my husband also has had a splotchy rash over his upper torso (this was before he was diagnosised with NHL). VA says it is not related. Now that he has been seen (Nov and Dec 08) I think it is all a sham... with the exams offered. before my husband had finished all of his evaluation a denial letter had been issued saying NONE of his symptoms were service related. So, needless to say we are now going through the appeals process. Because of him being former military it's almost like the civilian doctors we see are afraid to say if there is a connection (and as many pt's that they follow I feel they would know).
I did find a site with stats, cannot remember where. If I locate it again I will post it.
Thanks for the reply. Good Luck with your husband. Knock on wood my husband's last P.E.T. was negative and hopefullly will stay like that.
My husband was just diagnosed with a Sub-cutaneous b-cell lymphoma. He was in the gulf summer of 1990. He's been developing these splotchy areas on his chest for years now. I'm not sure if it it's Desert Storm related or not (like you stated about environmental exposures). I wonder if there's a site for Veterans affairs where they maybe have statistics on this stuff.
