Swollen feet & ankles, hot, reddish color, shortness of breath and night sweats.
My feet & ankles are swollen, hot and reddish color. I have high blood pressure, lupus, asthma, back problems, diabetic, fibromyalgia, and Padgett disease, an enlarged heart, and enlarged thymus gland. I've been waking up in the middle of the night with leg cramps, tremors, shortness of breath and my hair & night gown soaked from sweat. Please advise what could be happening? My doctor sent me to the hospital. They did blood test, x rays, cat scan with injected dye, Doppler tests. Sent me home with a referral to see a oncologist. Please tell me what could be going on. Thank you
Ken. I finally got my mri back, & it said follow-up clinically. I ended up with myelin sheath damage, & new neurolist says i would not be able to handle more testing? I am sure if i had those results when i went to some of the leading hosp. in the US, & MY doctor neglected to mention them, i might had been able to been fixed? I did find another leading hosp. willing to see me, but i am waiting for my daughter, so we can arrange to go. I just want to know if i can be fixed? It is a terrible disease and i just cant do simple things anymore like i use to do, like pay bills, & anti-social behavior, or even decide what to eat! No initiation, very forgetful. no short term memory, etc.! Supposedly no cure?

You have to remember, that my neurolist back then was a very good doctor, & honest. What i didnt know was he was concerned about a cerebral rupture,(i did not realize it ws something serious. i thot it ws just clustor headaches that i had experienced in the past, from over painting cars also before i started painting trains) This doctor in his notes, says he would be willing to go to court, & so forth. Back then, was thinking what is he talking about? I mean i knew these were most severe clusters around, & not much ws known about them 35 years ago. I knew almost as much as the national headache foundation,& use to donate some money back then(not much, but i would never ever want to see even my worst enemy to have to go thru the 8 hours of crhonic severe pain, twice a day! sometimes more, & always when i was just starting to get tired, or in my sleep. Since then they have come up with a lot of diff. meds, but NO CURE. Only cure will be some day, when neurolist stumble upond a patient such as me for instance? Predizone always ws quickest, next to a shot in the butt(but didnt care for the zombie feeling for 2 days after) So predizone therapy, with 7-10 liters of oxygen, & DEFINATELY Verapamil! Verapamil, works as a preventative n i take it daily for rest of my life. A few times i had to go on sancert treatment(not avail. in USA., anymore, but it is like a sister drug to LSD. It is fine after u get accustom to it, after the 2-3 days of tripping) Did the shots, etc. Only thing never did ws botox, & doubt it would work, considering since 2003, i realized these were not cluster headaches! They were brain attacks, to do with physiatry, after looking at 1 of my older reports from another neurolist, saying scans looked normal, BUT, he did notice SVP! Well, my good neurolist passed on, but he did get state involved, who got OSHA involved, & YES, it was the paints, & carbon monoxide poisoning, & all the nautious fumes i was breathing from cas cleaning in early 70's. I will be first person in the world, to die from cluster headaches! 1 got to be most painful thing to experience, thats why they r sometimes called suicide headaches. Think my 3rd 1, i had a gun next to my night stand, but God, AS MUCH AS IT HURT, I couldnt use it! If lucky u will vomit, naturally, & that works also. Think, back in 2002ish, if anyone had realized i had heart disease, & high chlesteral, would of never done the imatrex, BUT then again, i dont think a lot of people who think they had clusters, had real clusters, cas u just cant stand still. You run, n u scream, & cover the 1 eye, 7 u scream some more, & pray alot! Some people go to the hospital , & wait it out for the 20-30 days. If u can go that long headache free, u usually kick the bout, & r good for the next year. My problem was i was to stupid to realize that my last 3 bouts in the last years(2001-present, were not cluster headaches anymore but brain attacks) how ws i to know? My good neurolist ws dead, next good 1, changed his attitude on me(something to do with my older PC, 'MOVIN ON" after changing a report on me(to do with divorce. thats a hard 1 to believe, but got the proof) Then the 3rd neurolist, after, he did 2 nrve blocks, & ton of predizone, n oxygen, it worked! BUT! Also i wsnt painting cars anymore either, & just a little over a year ago, BANG! back again, & this ws first time i got rid of them naturally by runnin n pukin up clear vial(which brought the swelling down in my ankles) I knew i was dieing, & this neurolist also very last bout refused to treat me because he was mad at doctor that moved on!) Fortunately, i figured out a cure that works for me(last bout, tryied goin without sleep for the 12 14 days. almost worked, guess not long enough. WHAT I DID NOT KNOW, was these were cerebral artery occlusions, with cerebal infaret, until my optomalogist did the manly thing, & 'moved on" & left me my records from the hosp. that DNR me! I had begged him for his help, before i went to Mayo Clinic, & I think he felt empathy for me. Im happy for him, even tho, he 1st tried to cover up for Dartmouth, but he left me the records, & he moved to California. Only 1 problem, & thats me. I ended up with a lot of serious illnesses, like acoustic neuromy, eye problems, cateracts, glacoma, a few others that end in 'tis!" vasculitis epig;ititis(4 years ago) 7 i never ever use to get ill except for these severe cluters.OH! Now super severe vascular dimentia(no doctor in this state will see me! Guessing , worth more dead than alive! Im not even sure i answered ur question? I am in fear of the local hospital now, cas the OCR, wants me to report everyone, but i am not smart enough anymore, & tryin to get nerve up wen not resting to call a certain lawyer. Just wanted to say hi, & still alive? Compression stockings help, but where they end above my knees, the swelling starts there now.(both legs) Someday's r better than others. I turned to oxygen therapy, but that seems like it isnt working as well as it use to? My eyes, r worse than the photo, also they can switch sides also? I ws very fortunate that my optomolist, 'moved on', & left me my records, which confirmed cerebral artery occlusion with cerebal infarac. My ankles, look more like mottled veins.(hope i am wrong) My PC, neglected to tell Mayo about my heart, & anurism, & they gave me 3 injections of haloperoldole, & they realize they made a mistake, so they instantly ship me via ambulance 300 miles away to other hosp.(nightmare!) Way home that med. started to work, & all fluid in my head seemed to drain in my lungs, & i hack up flem for 3 days, brought a baggy full of it to my PC, but he said it ws to old? Iam starting to worry, cas of breathing problems, and my ankles. Need a ton of sleep, & cant stare at anything for long period of time or, i daze off, like before the last occlsion. I am supposed to have a neurolist, but now no noe will see me? I am tryin to get someone to take me to the leading hosp. in r area, that happenns to be 1 of the best hosp. on east coast, but tomorrow have a stress test here locally. I left a lot out, due to space, n time, but if only they had given me an anti biotic, maybe some of this could have been avoided? Now i have to put antibiotics in my eyes in strips. Cant do it. Home care ws suppose to help, but they didnt show up. Had a home care co. i hired, but they stop coming? I have very bad dimentia(vascular?) I am not goin to lie, i am very worried! I pray to God, tomorrow when i go for my nuclear stress test, they dont slip up? Then i got to get courage to go to ER, & plead for this special neurolist who sees a miracle once in a while, with sucsess. Just last week, my PC, still ws tryin to say i did not have an anurism! I not only downloaded my history, but like i said the optomalist left me my records of it, plus my kidneys, r in stage 1,<60, liver disease, cad. SVP, was noted back in 2003. I dont go to hospital unless it is an emergency. It is a shame, wen someone knows whats going on, but afraid of spilling the beans. Having their career, more important than my life. Some is physiatry, but not my fault, i had the anurism. Actually started havin mini strokes back all way in 2001-2, but thought maybe they were cluster headaches. Amazing i lasted this long?, & i do believe in medical miracles! Hope i can write u in a year, & tell you this was 1 big bad dream, & i was crazy! Thanks. Ken. I bought wrong socks! They were diabetic socks, & they make it worse? Prob. because the tops r to tight? I pray i make it! My symptoms used to be 1 leg. Now it is both legs, & swelling goes up to at least to my knees. My heals aches wen i wake up. Today, i started getting a little dizzy. I cant go to the ER. They just wait till u feel better, n send u home. 2 YEARS AGO, THEY WERE ALREADY TO ADMIT ME(ARM WAS PREPED, & EVERYTHING.) 1.5 Hours later sent me home, with no testing? I went to my PC. yesterday, & his nurse tries to tell me to cancel my appointment! All i care about is making it there. I dont expeckt miricles. I know if i take predizone, i will be much better off, cas same thing happenned 12 years ago. I called the nurse at Mayo, n she didnt really give me an answer? I guess later , wen i feel better, have to re-call her. She did ask me why i dont go to the ER? Told her i did! I bought some new socks that go to ur knees, advertised on tv. Steve, it might be a very good idea anyway to stand up periodically on any flight, because that would help to prevent a Deep Vein Thromobosis. With your inflammatory condition you might be at increased risk.

Hi KEN. I have been a big fan of DMSO, ever since i saw an episode on 60 miniutes back in the early 80's. It is fantastic on the wrists, as long as they r clean! I use to run an 18 pound grinder, & my wrist would act up alot. I was so surprised that something like a cleaning solvent would work instantly!(was never a believer in ointments, & etc. I also noticed if i had the least little bit of dirt on my wrists, the DMSO, would start to smoke. I just bought a bottle a few years back, & was using it, quite often. Currently the swelling is getting out of control, & i am on furosemide, but that doesnt seem to be working either. I know predizone does work, but i dont want to take it, cas it messes up a lot of bloodwork, & i am going to the Mayo clinic in 1 week to see first a doctor that specializes in Nephrology, & hypertention. I have other problems also, like my eyes. Ive been to a lot of ER'S, & SPECIALIST, but i got sick of all the doctors asking me, what the other doctor said, & so on! Pretty bad when u have to go out of state to 1 of the best hospitals in the country, just to get honest answers. My only problem is, i hope i make it alright flying. I only have to sit or stand for a few min., & swelling starts, & my vision acts up. I wish this was phycological, but it is pretty bad, when ur heart doctor doesnt show up for my appointment, but his nurse did, & she too, thought it was a vascular problem. She told me cardiology does not deal with that? Right now only thing keeping me goin is the pain med. I asked for an antibiotic, & doctor refused, & increase my pain medicine? Im really confused. I caught my doctor lieing a few times, so i told Mayo, to start from scratch 1, & not talk about past medical care. Im also dealing with an estate, & plan to give them a nice chunk. All i want is to know the truth, & if i have something wrong with me, if they can fix it, or how long i have to live? I might have to do predizone rest of my life? Dont, know, but i do want to thank you for ur kind thoughts, & so on! Steve

Hi. I just wanted to you to know, i have had some of those symptoms. The sweating was to high of a lithium count., & the swelling could be a vascular problem. After 3 years of some severe ankle swelling, i am finally going to a vascular specialist at a leading hospital. A lot of doctors seems r not familiar with vasculitis. Y ou are lucky you have good doctors, that at least are trying, & referring you to different referrals, & testing. Just because i have had a lot of your symtoms does not mean you have what i had. I am not a doctor, but it would not hurt to ask your doctor about the swelling, & maybe he could send u to a vascular specialist. Hope you get better soon, & good luck!
It's hard to say exactly what is going on. Did your doctor give you any insight to the results of your tests and scans? My guess is they couldn't find anything definitive on the tests but due to your night sweats, want you checked by a blood doctor just to rule out Lymphoma/Leukemia. Any swollen nodes? How about fevers or weight loss?
