ache in nodes

October 2012 started feeling a lump in my throat and plugged ears.  January 2013 started feeling ache in right front side of my neck.  Saw doctor and they had no recommendation except to keep and eye on it to see if it got worse.  The ache came and went over 2013 never getting worse than it was in January.  In October of 2013 started to notice an ache in my right groin area but thought I might have pulled something.  December started to notice an ache under my right arm.  Saw Doctor the end of December and he inquired about a possible infection.  Had an ultra sound performed on neck and armpit area in early January 2014 which came back normal.  Last week or so the ache is on both side in my groin and armpit areas.  Neck ache is still only on the right side.  Have occasional night sweats.  Feel good other than these symptoms.  The plugged ear and lump in throat pretty much went away early last year only coming up briefly every now and then; maybe stress related.  Will be returning to the Dr. to continue checking into the aching nodes.  Anyone gone through this? Any input?

Is the ache in your neck the same kind of ache as your groin and arm pit?  These places are very common areas where lymph nodes can swell to the point of being able to feel a lump, but not always.  The occasional ache I feel is also in these areas but I don't ever feel a lump either.  My guess is it's the capsule around the lymph node that is stretching as it fights a bug.  Pay attention to how you feel next time you feel the ache and see if you also feel run down.

I hope you are able to get some answers soon.

My neck ache is not a lump that can be moved but an ache that seems to be coming from under that long muscle along the right side of your neck.  Sometimes aches real bad but most of the time it just aches.

Not since Feb 2013 when everything looked fine.  Ache in nodes not so bad the last week or two and night sweats pretty much gone right now too.  But this up and down of symptoms has gone on for a year now.  I am going to wait for it to flare up again and see the doctor again I think.

I can't say for certain if that is your case, but for me, I believe stress and feeling run down/fighting bugs, etc. do cause my nodes to ache sometimes.  I've told my oncologist about this occasional feeling and he didn't seem very concerned, especially since he couldn't palpate any swollen nodes (and I have had Lymphoma).

Perhaps you do have an ongoing sinus infection.  Your sinuses are all interconnected with your ears and throat, and so that may be the cause of the lump in your throat and plugged ears.  However, this doesn't explain your frequent night sweats.  Have you had any blood work done?

ecline,

i have something similar... not on the right side but my left side is a lump right next to my throat. i can push it back to the center and hear a click in my throat. its been there noticeably for maybe 6 months. now my lymph nodes right under my tongue and jaw bone are pretty obvious and haven't felt exposed like they are now. Ive been to the dr 3 times about the lump that comes and goes and they said its normal. same with the nodes. i was nervous but all 3 blood panels came back normal. but now i still feel like its in the way more than usual. when i swallow i can feel it move on the side of my neck.

A couple of times per week lately.  Have felt like I have a cold for a few weeks.  Tickle in throat causing an occasional cough.  The tickle and an ache feels like it is under my right clavicle.

The only infection I can imagine would be in my sinus'. I have been experiencing some pressure, sensitive raw kinda feeling, and some minor pain mostly on the right side.  These sinus problems have been an ongoing issue for several years.  I have no discolored drainage or odor that I know of though.

I have been going through some stressfull times with my elderly parents and work this last year.  Thought that was leading to the occasional fatigue and the plugged ear/ lump in throat feeling.

So what you are stating is this my stress and feeling run down may be related to the aching nodes?

Hello and welcome.  I can tell you that I occasionally have aches in my armpits and groin area, almost like a throbbing ache.  It seems to come and go, mostly when I am tired and/or feeling under the weather.  I believe it is probably infection or low immunity related.  When infection occurs, lymph nodes swell with an abundance of lymphocytes to fight the infection.  The outer capsule of the lymph node will stretch and sometimes cause pain.

If you are concerned about blood cancer, I can tell you that pain is usually not a symptom , so that is good news.  And, with the amount of time that has passed, I would think that if it was malignant, the nodes would have swelled enough to be palpable.  I would like to ask about the night sweats though.  How severe are they and how often do you get them?
