Outpatient chemo can be scary, but the idea is in part based on the fact that being in ones own home during the process helps with recovery from the treatments. The most important and helpful thing you can do for your mom is be there for her, emotionally, help her out by keeping things as clean as possible to prevent infections,, and if she doesnt want to be alone, keep her company. I know the anxiety alone from the therapy for me was the worst, and being alone alot gives you little to do but focus on how badly you feel.
Best wishes, Jenn
Hi.
I understand what you are going through.
Side effects of chemotherapy should be addressed properly.
Drugs like anti-emetics are given before and after the chemotherapy in order to prevent vomiting. Most of the time, supportive management is needed to address the side effects of treatment.
Do ask you oncologist on ways to prevent these side effects.
