Most Drs. Do still use the stages in order to decide when to send someone for a transplat eval. then they recieve a MELS score for placement on the transplant list. To figure both scores you need the information above.

I have seen and heard liver condition described in terms of stage and grade quite frequently.
In what terms have you heard the liver described?

The stages have more to do with what phsycial symptoms you are experiencing at the time... ie. ascites, edema, encephalopathy, varices, jaundice, in addition to the blood work all represent possible 'points'... the more points, the higher the stage, stage 4 being the highest. What you may be able to figure based on your bloodwork alone is your MELD score which is a simple mathematic formula used to determine the severity of your disease for transplant purposes.
Did a doctor tell you stage 2? Because nowadays they don't really use that lingo.
