Increased Liver Enzymes

This past 2 weeks I was ill with the h1n1 virus.  During the 2 weeks, I consumed over 50 200mg pills of ibuprofen.  I have had blood work done twice (5 days ago and 2 days ago).  Both resulted in increased liver enzymes.  I haven't had any ibuprofen in 4 days.  Is it possible that my liver enzyme increase is a result of the "overdose" with the ibuprofen.  My doctor has scheduled another blood work screening in two weeks.  Will my liver enzymes decrease in this amount of time?  Is there anything I can do to help decrease my liver enzymes?

Thanks Bob.  That is exactly what my doctor said.  He will retest my blood in two weeks.

Generally, ibuprofen taken per directions, does not cause liver problems. But taking over 10,000 mg in 2 weeks has probably the elevated liver enzymes. I don't think you've done any permanent damage. Stay away from ibuprofen, tylenol, and napoxen, at least for a month, this will help detox the liver. Your liver enzyme levels should return to normal. Consult with your physician on your individual case.

Take care,

Bob :)
