Liver function test confused over results

Hi all. Im a 33 year old female, no health issues. Over the last 10 years i have being a heavy drinker. Drinking every night around 6-8 cans of larger and more on a weekend. Had a rountine blood test in may which was all normal apart from liver function it was 84. I realise this was due to alcohol. After 4 weeks i was retested and this time i cut down on alcohol but did not stop. They did a full liver test and lf had gone down to 67 but another enzyme relating to alchol was 121. So they said retest 3-6 mths. During this time i have dramaticly cut down on alchol no longer drinking everynight but still most weekends during the first 2 mths.but during sept and october i have only drank 8 cans on two seperate occasions. Last time i had an alchol was 3 weeks ago. Just had blood test done and results are lf gone up from 67 to 78. The other gone down from 121 to 102. Im just confused as to why the lf has gone up and not down and i am now really worried. Any advise would be great

Did you obtain a MELD Score from your doctor who should be a liver specialist.

- Normal blood test results for typical liver function tests include: ALT. 7 to 55 units per liter (U/L) AST. 8 to 48 U/L. ALP. 45 to 115 U/L.

You have not indicated the necessary details regarding your results.

The one thing to keep in mind is that your liver has been affected by  alcohol abuse.

The degree of your liver damage is not known, but any recovery, depends on completely abstaining from alcohol
and adhering to your doctor's treatment plan, if one is suggested.

Reducing the amount of drinking, does necessarily correlate with the improvement of liver function.

The goal should be to slow down any scar tissue progression and prevent onset or worsening of symptoms and complications.

If you need professional help to give up alcohol, your doctor may recommend a treatment program.

Best wishes,
Niko
