Question about lab results

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help me understand what these lab results mean, as the doctor didn't seem to think anything of it.

Liver Panel:
Protein: 8.6(Reference range 6.3-8.2)
Albumin:5.3(Reference 3.5-4.9)
Tbil: 1.0(Reference 0.2-1.3)
Dbil: 0.0 (0.0-0.3)
Alk Phos: 59 (38-126)
GOT: 63(17-59)
GPT: 113(21-72)

Lipid Panel:
Chol: 170(<200)
Trig: 166(39)
LDL: 106(<130)

I'm curious what GOT and GPT means?  and also, I am about 50 pounds over-weight(6'2" and 260)..  Are these numbers inflated because of me being overweight?  Or what do they mean?

Thank you for your help.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
What are the symptoms present? Weight may be an indirect factor and based from your results, it is best that you discuss this with your attending physician.  Factors such as your medical history, symptoms as well as result of other tests are important considerations also. You may also be referring to liver function tests SGOT and SGPT .  Elevated results are sensitive indicators of liver damage or injury from different types of diseases or conditions, but does not necessarily suggest liver disease. Take care and do keep us posted.

Thank you for your response.  I appreciate it.  I did go to the emergency due to anxiety over this, and they said there was some fatty infiltration of the liver, but that my GOT level returned to normal, and the gpt is down to 99.  In 2012, these were much higher 169, and 96.  So is it a good thing these have gone down?  Or is it likely permanent damage has occurred to my liver in this timeframe?

Here are the most recent results:

ALT: 99
AST: 44

I have been eating better, cut out sweetened drinks and sodas all together, trying to eat less empty carbs like breads/pastas and sugars.

Does this indicate perhaps that the fatty liver might be improving?
