bilirubin/omeprazole

What is the connection between high bilirubin and gall bladder/bile duct sludge.  Is there any connection between the ingestion of Omeprazole?

Omeprazole does cause jaundice as wwell as many Other diseases! I dont know about what this site is selling but they have a great list of side effects of omeprazole. http://www.omeprazolesideeffects.com/

Omeprazole should not cause any form of jaundice that I am aware of.  I take it every day & I have  treated for hcv & still treat for aih.  I have to take it because of prednisone causing heartburn & gerd.

Sarah, 19 years old, was having gas in the stomach and flatulance. Doctor presribed her omeprazole 20mg which she took that night and the next morning. The next day she noticed her stool was white and eyes slight yellow - sign of jaundice!  I'm not sure if it was caused by omeprazol or otherwise.

your billirubin levels usually rise when the liver is having trouble producing bile or bile thickens.  this can be caused by a couple of things, most often it is a sign of dissapearing bile ducts in the liver.  when you body is unable to process the bile your total and conjicated billi levels will go up.  you can tell when your billi lever are rising if, you  start to experience itchiness, jaundice of the eyes or skin.  itching will be the first sign.  this is due to the fact that your body is unable to process the salts in your body due to the dysfuntion of the billirubinary tree and liver, so the salt rises to the top of the skin.  in addition early signs of high billi levels can be spotted in your urine.  Medicines that can help thin bile are availible by perscription.  The most common is usro or usodile, which you usually take two to three times daily.  consult your hepatologist for more information.  hope this helped.
