I was diagnosed several years ago with liver hemangiomas and was told by my doctor at the time that he would just continue to watch them and that I should avoid aspirin. Now 6 years later they have grown, the largest is 8 cm. They are causing me a lot of pain on a daily basis. If yours are not causing you any pain then perhaps an occasional aspirin would be okay, but I urge you to find the right doctor who has dealt with hemangiomas as part of the medical practice.
It has taken me 7 doctor's and countless tests to finally find one who knows what he is talking about and understands the pain they can cause.
Hi,
How are you? The vast majority of hemangiomas of the liver never cause symptoms or health problems and most are discovered incidentally at the time of testing for unrelated medical problems. Very large hemangiomas can cause symptoms such as pain, nausea, or enlargement of the liver. Rarely, larger hemangiomas can rupture, causing severe pain and bleeding into the abdomen. There is usually no contraindication to other medications and it is best that you talk to your doctor about this also for proper management. Take care and do keep us posted.
