radioisotope as treatment for liver cancer

Hi,
Does anyone know anything about radioisotrope as treatment for primary liver cancer? I am looking for some information on this topic. My GI commented that when I see my oncologist next week he may treat my liver cancer with radioisotrope. I am looking for information on how the procedure is done, how much work I may need to miss, possible side effects and other general information.

Unfortunately my sister had blood transfusions years ago.  Developed hepatitus c which became cirrhosis and now has turned into liver cancer. Nexavar is a chemo pill she takes daily.  Naturally, I want to try and find out other solutions for her but I don't think there is anything that can be done.We are just buying time with the pill.  She is going to the University of Chicago so I rather think if there were other choices for her, she would be told.  I am grasping at straws I know.  Thank you for the reply westajul and I am very glad that your treatment is working and you will remain in my prayers.

My oncologist recommended chemotherapy for my the tumors in my liver and I am happy to say after 10 chemo treatments the tumors in my liver are gone. My cancer is unusual in that it is acting like colon cancer but my cancer in gynological in orgin...but my onc recommended colon cancer chemo therapy and as I said it is working.  I am sorry to hear about your sister. Is her liver cancer primary or mestasis of another cancer. I am not familiar with Nexavar but I hope it is working. Tell your sister I will keep her and your family in my thoughts. Julie

I see by your date of entry that much time has passed.  I hope you are doing well.  My sister, Betty, has liver cancer and I was wondering about the radioisotopes as a treatment.  Right now she is taking Nexavar. Would like to know how you are doing and I am praying for you.
