tuna fish and elevated liver enzymes

hello,  i had liver inflammation one year ago and my liver enzymes (ast, alt) were elevated.
After following a diet, they became normal 8 months ago.
Recently, I had excess tuna fish and yesterday when i checked my liver enzyme levels I saw that they are elevated again and also elevated cholesterol level.

is it possible that elevated cholesterol and liver enzymes be due to eating excess tuna fish?

Hi Me,

I also tested for high liver enzymes and questioned whether the Fish Oil tablets I take every day may have something to do with it because of "Mercury".

Since liver filters everything we put in our body--Mercury is toxic and I think it may be a possibility. I think according to how much mercury your brand has and how long you have been eating it or any other Fish with high mercury content. This is a stab in the dark, because I am at a loss as to why my liver enzymes were so elevated? You cannot believe some of the things I have come up with, LOL. I see a Gastro doc on Monday--may find some answers there.

Good luck ,
CM

I have a tuna sandwich for lunch every day and have done this for years.  I never thought about the toxic effects of mercury but you may be onto something.  I am definitely switching to chicken salad!  I have a liver scan in 2 weeks.  Best of luck to you. ch

Please do yourself and your loved ones a favor and at least cut down on the alcohol.  You will not get your liver back.  I've been a daily drinker of hard liquor for 4-1/2 decades and my liver enzymes were very high.  Of course it's difficult to stop drinking but if I did it after more than 40 years so can you.  It ain't easy.  Pot may help during the transition. I wish I had cut down when I was your age but we only drink more as time goes on.

I'm lousy with these things (computers, etc)but hope you get this.  My diet is not great.  I really preferred my drinking to eating.  Eating is an effort for me.

Not even that bad AST-44/ALT 32--Go figure! I have a feeling mine might be caused by viral mono. I had all the symptoms when my enzymes were tested.

I just do not know, but now I am getting tested for everything, just to be sure.

CML2014,
what were  the abnormal levels of your results?
in my  case: ast--> 50 U/L  and alt-->101 U/L.
I ate a lot (3 canned per week) in the last month.
