Coarse Liver

Hi,

Total Bilirubin is 0.31
ALT: 45
AST: 23
Alkaline Phosphatase: 75
GGT: 34
Total Protein: 7.12
Albumin: 4.68
Globulin: 2.44
A/G Ration: 1.92

Liver: measures 15.6cm in length in the right Mid Axillary Line (normal 14.5 to 15.5cm)--- It is normal in size but shows mild to moderate generalized coarse echo texture with slight irregular margins. No Focal lesion.

My liver impression: Normal sized Liver with generalized mild to moderate coarse parenchyma (C2 H5 OH)
*compared with previous scan dated september 2013 reveals unchanged status.

Does the above data help? Will my liver lead to cirrhosis regardless as I have some disease in the liver?

not necessarily--it could be fibrosis, inflammation or fat or combinations of all

Thanks Dr Thomas,

Does a coarse parenchyma not equate to slight scaring of the liver? Is it not fibrosis? I am sorry for repeating myself but just wanted some clarity.

you may have a touch of fatty liver.  it means that the liver would not show normal histology if you had a biopsy. I wouldnt worry too much.
