Elavated AST and AST

I just got my test results back and my ALT is 138 and my AST is 227. I am not a drinker. In January of 2010 my ALT was 24 and my AST was 26. I do weigh 300lbs and take metformin for type 2 diabetes by last A1c was 6. what would you advise?

i think that you can definitely wait the month and then repeat.  this is reasonable but if they remain elevated further testing is necessary.

I don't take herbal meds just vitamins D, C, b12. I sent the tests to my MD doctor because my Gyno ordered them as routine and she doesn't handle these things.  My questions is: he said to wait a month and have the liver tests done again. Using you as a second opinion, is that good advise or should I go to a special Doctor that deals with this kind of thing?

the liver test elevation is not concerning but you need to have further testing performed.  this could in fact be from the metformin.  you need to have viral serologies checked and get a liver ultrasound as well stop all herbal medications, if any.
