Elevated GGT

Hi,
I am a 50 yr old 260LBS 6ft 2in Male. I have been drinking heavily for the past 3 years and have now stopped completely. I smoke 40 cigarettes a day.
I am now on a weight loss low calorie, carb controlled diet with excercise. It seems to be working.
I am concerned about my elevated GGT and ALT. Last count (February) was GGT 92 ALT 88. A month earlier the numbers were GGT 56 ALT 51.
Strange when considering that I have not touched a drink since end January.
I have no symptoms whatsoever.
Can you offer an explanation for this please?
Best regards and thanks
Rog

the elevated GGTP can be due to your weight and fatty liver.  i am hopeful that continued weight will eventually normalize the liver tests.
