Finding a Live Liver Donor

My father was diagnosed with cirrhosis and has been hospitalized on two occasions.  For now he is doing better, but our family has been struggling finding a matching donor for a live donor transplant.  He is O+.  Unfortunately none of my brothers and sisters match and I am lost as to what my next step should be.  I have searched with friends and not had any luck.  Is there somewhere else that I can look or contact?  He is on the donor list but I don't want him to have to wait until he gets sicker and risk not getting one.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Hello there,
my cousin just received a liver transplant from a deceased donor. Where is your father listed? I know of a couple people who were willing to get tested for my cousin but fortunately he received a transplant before they were evaluated. Have you listed your father in multiple centers? You can email me at ***@**** and I can possibly try to help you with two folks who are willing to donate.

Good luck and God Bless.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
there are no shared donor liver programs that i am aware of.  programs will not cross blood types.  Only about 20% of all patients will have a suitable donor.  the only thing that you can do is publicize the need to your other friends and family members.
