WHY a transplant specialist??

general good health - having some very low abdominal paid like bad menstrual cramps.  my dr ordered CT scan, ultrasound, blood work.  cysts on ovaries and fibroids on uterus - she wants to do another US??
MY BIG CONCERN -- blood work is fine, but she found a 2.8 bi-lobe cyst on my liver and made an appointment for me with a LIVER TRANSPLANT specialist.  She won't tell me why she thinks I should go - only that I need to go. If my blood work is fine and my health is good.. WHY would she insist I see this specialist???    Not ashamed to say I'm getting VERY upset that she won't tell me WHY! . any insight will be most appreciated.

probably the referral is more for a hepatobiliary surgical referral rather than transplantation

The doctor she's sending me to consult with has this information on his page

Director, Vanderbilt Transplant Center Clinical Trials Office
Director, Living Donor Liver Transplant Program

this was my first time visiting the primary - needless to say, she has made me VERY uneasy and, depending on the outcome from the specialist, I may not return to her.

frankly I am not sure either.  Although a liver transplant specialist, the doctor is presumably also an hepatobiliary surgeon.  your primary doc probably wants an opinion regarding what the cyst is, not that you need a transplant.
