please help

Hi, please help. My husband has had Hepatitis C for over 25 years and recently has gotten worst. In the last 4 months he has been in and out of the hospital several times with high fevers and different bacterias in his blood due to the liver disorder. He is on the waiting list in NY at Mt. Sinai but the doctors say that because there is a long list in NY he may not get a liver in time because he is not so high on the list. Basically they told me that the only way he would get a liver in NY is if he had a week to live. I dont want to take the chance with that. Can anyone please help me and tell me what I could do, maybe go to a different state, maybe go to any non profit organizations. Please help. My life is turning upside slowly but surely. Any help would be appreciated.

unfortunately in situations such as this (all too common in NYC) patients must consider a live donor or seek to be listed in alternative UNOS regions if that is feasible.  patients go typically to indiana and florida.  its always better to go into a transplant as hale as possible.
