You can get corn starch powder at any CVS or pharmacy it is usually in the baby section or you can go to the grocery store and get the cornstarch on the baking isle. I like the pure corn starch the best (from the grocery store) it is not as fine and seems to last longer than the other. Also a cold rag always works best for me and they say that an ice pack will help you heal faster and maybe stop an OB from happening if you catch it during the first symptoms.
My story is a little different than yours. I was totally taken by surprise by this and I was more than disappointed, I was devastated! I have been married for 16 years when I got my first OB. Same woman absolutely NO infidelity on either side, and then BANG shot in the head with Herpes! That was in March of this year, the boyfriend my wife had before me hade it and didn’t know it until later, he told my wife and she went in for a STD test and it came back Negative, but back then the test’s were very unreliable and  they still don’t test for the big H on a normal STD panel, so she got  it from him. I don’t really care where I got it from I just don’t want it anymore!! We have 2 great kids that are healthy and we are healthy for the most part. I am just now starting to come to terms with the facts. With the help of my wife God and the support I get from groups like this it has become easier for me. Thanks for the response and I hope we can stay in contact.
Just so you know I am NOT one of those “Dirt Bag’s” that use great tools like this support community as a way to “meet” people or “hook up”, I am very happily married and I am a father of two son’s that look to me as a role model, and I take that job very seriously!! I hope this will easy your mind on talking to someone on line, this is a support community and nothing more in my opinion. Anyway I hope I was not out of line by saying all of this but sometimes it’s uncomfortable talking to someone you don’t know and don’t know what their motives are. I hope all is well and your OB is getting better. ttyl

I agree with you. where would i be able to get the cornstarch powder? I never heard of that being used. well this is my first out break. I started this group because i didnt see any listed. I personally did not freak out about catching it yeah im disappointed in my self for not being smart about being protected but things happen for a reason. I just want to be able to enjoy my life the way i want. But like the question asks. I use advil for some minor pain and a hot rag right on the area.

As far as the pain Ibuprofen has helped me, the burn and itch just try to keep it clean and dry, only use non-scented products the perfumes tend to irritate and burn, cornstarch based powders work well but so does cornstarch itself. I hope this helps.

I see that you started this group and I think it is a great idea! A place to go VENT and talk to others that have this…I gets lonely sometimes and sometimes we just want to see if someone else is going through the same things and don’t want to waste the time of the experts on the community forum, however they are GREAT people and have always helped me!! But they are busy and I for one don’t want to take up there time with my insecurities. This is all new to me and I have a lot of them…
