Afraid of cancer symptoms

Hello, I am a 35 years old male, have been a smoker for 17 years, not necessarily heavy smoker, mostly weekends smoker. The thing is that I am a hypochondriac, and for a couple of days I have felt my trachea tighter, making it a little harder to swallow my saliva, but no ptoblem when eating. Since reading in the web, i have now felt what I think shortness of breath, and began panicking. Could this be signs of cancer?

Hi as suggested above by Dr Santos, there is nothing to fear, as i suggest one must quit smoking to lead a happy tension free life ahead. Since you can never know when you can develop a symptom of lung cancer, which cannot be cured.

Hi,
The weather as well as presence of underlying conditions ( hypertension heart problem, etc) could be factors in the present symptoms that you mentioned. Drink plenty of water and try to avoid too much exertion. If the symptoms ( tightness of chest or difficulty breathing) persist, you may need to have this checked for proper evaluation and to ease any worry. imaging studies like chest x-ray may help determine the cause. Take care always.

I do not know if it´s my mind playing tricks on me, but I feel certain tightness in my chest, like the air is quite thick and also, like a lump in my throat.

Have no cough, nor anything else.

Hi,
How are you? What other symptoms are present? While lung cancer usually does not cause signs and symptoms in the earliest stages, symptoms such as chronic cough, coughing up blood, chest pain, hoarseness, weight loss and shortness of breath may occur. To rule this out and ease any worry, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Direct clinical examination and additional diagnostic tests such as imaging studies of the lungs may need to be done. Take care and do keep us posted.
