I had been feeling very tired with sore throats and hoarseness for a few months and discovered an enlargment under left armpit. Dr put me on Singulair, which has helped with the fatigue and sent me for an ultrasound and blood work. Bloodwork came back fine. Dr said that the node they examined looks fine but enlarged and it was not the one that is causing a problem (???) so he is sending me to a general surgeon next week. I also have had a stiff /sore neck and pain in lower spine for several months and an enlarged something on the back left side of my neck, close to spine, beneath hair line. More of a large mass than a lump, if that makes any sense. I went to Othropedic Dr to rule out a skeletel problem. He said that other than normal degenerative disease, neck and back look fine. A few days later, however, he called me up and is sending me for a chest Xray and CT Scan of chest. While I find it odd that an Orthropedic Dr would order such tests, he was involved in my mothers medical case of a benign tumor in spinal cord and eventual lung cancer.
Finally, my question: I feel that it is premature to go to a Surgeon regarding the armpit until it is determined exactly what is causing the armpit lump, what the neck bulge is,and if they are related or not.
