My mom has stage 4 non small cell lung cancer with a marker of EGFR gene. Im so happy that they found this marker because it means they cab treat it.  But i was wondering if this is hereditary? She is a smoker age 61.

Hello, welcome to  the forum and thank you for the question. We are so very sorry for the delay in response!  We hope your mother is doing well and her treatment is successful. Please update us. With regards to the gene testing that she has done, unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, there is a hereditary link for family.  https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01754025  This article that you can copy and paste discusses this.  That certainly doesn't mean that you will get lung cancer but it is something to be aware of and to be as healthy as you can be.  Let us know how your mother is doing.
