Life expectancy

My husband was diagnosed with sclc 6 weeks ago. We are waiting for a pet scan and another broncoscopy to find out if he is a candidate for surgery. My question is how fast moving is lung cancer. If he can have surgery it will be at least another month before he gets it. We are really scared that too much time is being wasted. If anyone has been through a similiar experience please let me know how it turned out

Thank you so much for your comments. So does that mean that it is the norm to take as long as it is?

Have you tired Lung cancer alliance group? (google it)  Its wonderful! Helped me with my mom. Anyway, take one thing at a time. If it has not spread outside the lung, that will be excellent news and waiting that month if he has surgery will be just fine. All lung cancers are different. Each person is different. Its whether or not a cell breaks away from the oringinal tumor and enters the blood stream and land somewhere else. I have heard of those with tumors the size of a softball not spread, yet my mom's was smaller than a pea and it went to her femur. You just don't know. A Pet Scan will determine whether or not it has spread. My thoughts and prayers are with you!
