Lung Cancer !

Hi !
Looks  Like  I   have  a new  Lung  Cancer,.- it,s  the  kind  that  takes  the  longest  to  spread, don,t know  what  it,s  called, but  here in Norway,-  they  can  only  operate,-  using  open  Lung  Surgery, so  now  I  am  looking  for  a  hospital  that  can  operate- using key-hole surgery,- ( using a  camera  as a guide !  -    I am  69  Years  old,.- and  don,t think I,ll  survive  the  prolonged  pain that comes with  open Lung Surgery,just  went  through  7  weeks  of  2  painful  operations with  intestive-cancer, followed by  Chemo !  Does  anyone  know  if  there  is  a  Hospital  in  Europe-Germany or Denmark,- that  uses  a less  invasive procedure,- than open Lung Surgery ?

You are talking about the VATS approach.  Can you get to the states for a second opinion or at least contact one of our top oncologic institutions (MD Anderson or Duke or Dana Farber or Johns Hopkins) for a second opinion--send pathology, scans?  If so, Sloane-Kettering in New York city is top-notch and on the East coast so closer for you.

Hi,
I dont know of any specific laproscopic surgery centre in Germany/Denmark, but I think the choice of surgery should be left to the surgeon. Not all lung surgeries are amenable to a laproscopic or minimally invasive approach. You should discuss in detail with your treating cancer surgeon on the appropriate type of surgery suitable for your particular circumstance.
