Small white round spots in chest x ray, SCARED.

I've had a cough for about a year or more now and went to the hospital and the ER doctor told me that I had what seems to be a little bronchitics and border line asthma, whatever that means! and that is what the little white round spots were. I have no insurance I followed up with a Free Clinic doctor who saw the copies of the hospital I picked up earlier. He noticed the white spots, I asked him, could it be cancer? he said its in the back of his mind but it could be a lot of things. THIS SCARE THE **** OUT OF ME. I'm on a z-pac 5 day antibiotic, steroid pills, inhaler, cough suppressant and decongestant. Had some basic labs done and said to come back in a month to see if I still have the cough. It's gotten better but the white round little spots on the xray is stressing me out to the point where I feel I do have cancer. They also did a TB test at the clinic and it came back neg. Also he mentioned if it phenomena I would have a fever but I don't. I do feel tired but it could be from stressing out too much. I have NO insurance either so I'm on my own on this. I'm 25, m, married with 3 children. The spots are a little smaller then a pea and some 1/4 the size of a pea, looks like perfectly round and solid, I also saw what seems to be a white vortex that looks like a space black bole or something. I SCARED because everything I read points to lung cancer or something BAD. I don't want to die young... please help! I smoked for maybe a year in my teens and thats it.

I too have white spots in my lungs.  My general physician doesn't seem concerned, but I am.  I have been taking antibiotics for a bacterial infection...streptococcus group B.  After doing some research on the internet and looking at x-rays, I believe these white spots are a symptom of the bacterial infection.  I was diagnosed with this "bacterial infection" at a clinic (not an STD) during a routine pap test and treated with antibiotics 6 mos. ago. Three courses later, and it still is not gone. My mom has had a cough for over a year, and can't get a diagnosis as to what is causing the cough. Nothing has worked to rid her of it. She had TB in her youth, and was also diagnosed with a bacterial infection when given a urinalysis.  I know  there are some bacterial infections that do not respond to antibiotics, and have become resistant. After seeing an infections disease specialist, I was told that "we can't help you" after I confronted him with the information I found on the internet, WITHOUT another test or diagnosis.  I told him about my streptococcal infection, and he recommended I NOT take the penicillin I was prescribed by my GYN, who finally diagnosed the bacteria two weeks ago?!?  Is it because the infection will come back even stronger after the antibiotics wear off? I too have been tested for TB, after developing other symptoms in my body. It came up negative. Right now, my skin looks like crepe paper, with a lot of dehydration and I am only 56 yrs. old.  Could it be that doctors KNOW what is going on and not telling the public, because it has become epidemic and can't be treated with your basic antibiotics?  I believe TB must be treated for at least 3 to 6 mos. with 4 kinds of antibiotics to be cured, and it can affect different organs in the body.  If this is some kind of pandemic and there are simply not enough effective drugs to treat the population, what can the medical community do without causing general hysteria?  My mom's doc told her...."There are no more healthy people".  What does HE know that WE don't?!?!

I had a lower back and pelvic x-ray today for right leg numbness and weakness, and the tech came in and asked different questions. To which I had answered “no, no and no” one such question, was have I taken a capsule for a Digestive study, when I ask why, she said that there were a bunch of bright white specks showing in my abdomen area. I asked if she knew what from and she had no idea, but since I was there for a back study, then the abdomen really was not their concern. She showed the films, and yes, there were about a dozen bb sized specks on my lower abdomen area.
I am a 46 yr old male, never smoked, I have Diverticulitis, and just recently finished Antibiotics for a flare up. I have had 3 surgeries or the past 5 years, one for a colon resection, and two incisional hernias. Could the white spots be from the mesh patch placed in my abdomen wall?
I have called my surgeon and I am waiting for a call back,  and I will see my Gastro Doc tomorrow for my Diverticulitis issue.

I went for a CT scan and they found a round spot in my left lung.  They sent me to have a PET scan done on my lung.  And the PET scan came back saying that the spot glowed on the test and was what they called hot.  They said it was a 12 on the test.
They said that inside the spot are several blood vessels and that it would be hard to do a biopsy of it without me bleeding really bad.  But the surgeon wants to do the biopsy anyway.  My doctor said that if it were her she would have them just go in and remove the whole spot because that would be far less risky cause they would be able to control the bleeding better and things.
But the surgeon will not do that he says that the only thing he will do is a biopsy and then if it is cancer he will remove it at a later time.
I don't feel like this is fair to me to have to be at risk twice instead of just once.
I am 37 years old and have a husband and children and I am afraid that I could die.  What should I do?
My doctor said that usually if the spot is cancer it has spikey like things around the edges and this spot don't have that.

Hi,

This could be tuberculosis if your son and daughter has had it and you have been around them at the time.

You could talk to your doctor about getting a CT scan done and repeat sputum examination for tuberculosis.

Discuss with your doctor about the vaccination too.

Are you on any medications currently?

You do not smoke - so the chances that this is COPD are also very less.

Let us know about what your doctor advises and do post us the reports here.

Regards.

CORRECTION FOR ABOUT MENTIONED: THE ER DOC did NOT say I had a little TB but that I had Bronchitis.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I forgot to mention something. I was a marine reservist for sometime and have been given a dose of a lot of vaccines when I was in boot camp.

I did take some of the anthrax vaccine shots and I also justed remember I did receive what was a experimental pneumonia vaccine that had a big list of papers they made me sign too in my platoon. I remember that the shot hurt really bad and caused a big bruise that would wake all of us up when we would roll over in bed.

Upon searching to see if I could get the vaccine I found this story which sparked my memory!

-----------------------------------------------------
Junior Nicole Lillis' disdain for the U.S. Army and the government that controls it all comes down to a preventative measure that many in the United States and throughout the world take for granted nowadays.

When Lillis and the other recruits rolled up their sleeves for vaccinations during basic training, they got stuck with 12 needles. Soldiers had to sign an informed consent document before receiving one of the vaccines. She said when soldiers asked why they needed to sign the form, the doctors and drill sergeants told them it was for a pneumonia vaccine.

"We were given the one page to sign without any information on it," she said, showing the piece of paper she signed that day. "The drill instructors screamed at us to sign the consent document and told us if we didn't, they would be sure our lives were a living hell. They intimidated us into signing it."

Under U.S. Code Title 10, Section 1107, when the Secretary of Defense requires or requests soldiers to take an experimental or non-Food and Drug Administration approved vaccine, the Department of Defense must inform the soldiers in writing of the purpose of the drug, the fact that it is investigative or unapproved and its potential side effects before they give it to them. The soldiers must also provide informed consent before receiving the vaccine.

Lillis later found three more pages to her consent form after reviewing her medical records after her time in the service. She said she never saw the pages before getting the vaccine.

The vaccine Lillis received was an investigative pneumonia vaccine that the Department of Defense said the elderly have used successfully for years, saying soldiers should not worry about taking it, according to the consent form. Lillis said she is skeptical if that was really what the vaccine was.

"If the elderly have been taking it for years and it has been effective, then why did we have to sign a consent document?" Lillis asked.
---------------------------------------------------

now I'm wondering what my military medical records say...

Either way I'm hoping to get a CT scan soon.

The cough doesn't go away and everytime I cough I get stressed, anxious and nervous. It is effecting my life and my responsibilities.

BhumikaMD,

thanks for the reply. I'm still scared and I'm trying to wait until what the FREE CLINIC doctor says. He sent the copies of the xray to the radiologist, and did blood work on me. He said to come back in a month to see if it's gone. I went back because I'm suffering from what I think is anxiety. I told him i'm worried, he said give it until monday (today) to see if the cough gets better. It is the same.

I've been talking to people that some have had coughing for a few months and it took a couple of weeks after treatment to get rid of it. I hope this will be the case for me. But when I mention white round spots they go ... "ooooohhh"... like that's not a good thing.

My son and daughter caught tuberculosis and my daughter it became pneumonia. I got sick at this time as well but I've already had the cough off and on but I got really sick and didn't go to the doctor but the phlegm (Green) and the fever went away after some rest. This was 2 months ago.

I went to the doctor once before and he gave me just cough medicine, about a year ago I went to the hospital and my chest xray was clear.

At this moment:
I don't smoke, I do have sticky clear or sometimes whitish phlegm and it does seem that my throat is causing more mucus now.

The free clinic doctor told me that if I had pneumonia I would have a fever so he said I probably don't have that. I HAD a TB test done and it came out CLEAR. Although the ER doctor told me that I did have some tuberculosis a little bit.

Sometimes I feel like I can't breath or take deep breaths to feel better.

I DO NOT COUGH when i'm laying down or when i'm lay back on a chair.

Before all this I did have chest cracking on my left side and on my back left side. The doctor told me that I have a little spine scoliosis.

I did have like a dull chest pain on my lower left side of my breast rib and this happened when I leaded on my right side in bed.

I will try to post the xrays on here.

My question:

Can I get the pneumonias vaccine? it covers 23 pneumonias! I'm really wanting to take the vaccine but can I have it while I have this cough?

Where can I get it? I'm in Southern California.

Could this be Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)?????

That is what is scaring me.

I would also like to get a CT scan.

Hi,

You need not panic. Has the xray been reported by a radiologist? Could you post us the report here?

The white spots could be pneumonias, tuberculosis, nodules, etc.

You should take the prescribed medications and review with your doctor and get a repeat xray done.

Do you smoke? Are you having any sputum or phlegm? What colour is it?

Let us know about how you are doing and do post us the report.

Regards.
