Survivors?

Everything I hear about lung cancer sounds so grim...is there anyone that actually survives and beats this kind of cancer? My dad seems to be doing pretty well now, but we are big believers in healing. Alot of prayers and have to have faith in God. He healed us many years ago and now all we have to do is accept it, believe with no doubt and thank HIM for it! I know when you are the one on this rough road, it is very hard at times  to have faith, but I believe this is the chance for life that these people have!

My Mom was dx'ed with small-cell lung cancer in Feb 2006.  Upper left lobe was removed and then she did six months of chemo (3 consecutive days per month).  Has been in remission ever since.

What's interesting is that her first biopsy was inconclusive, so when they went in to do the lobectomy, pathology showed it to be small-cell.  If it had been known prior to surgery, there would never have been any surgery.  Interesting, huh?

God works in mysterious ways.

Hi,

One of the reasons why lung cancer is pretty tough to fight is that it involves an organ whose dysfunction is life threatening. It doesn't need to move into another organ to kill.  Another reason is that it tends to affect older people - who are at risk for mortality due to other concurrent diseases.

The estimates for life expectancy are dependent on statistics, but of course - no amount of mathematics can predict how long an individual will keep up the fight. Unfortunately its all we have to work with. It is estimated that if they aren't surgical candidates at the outset, survivors represent around 5% of the group. With estimates this small - the statistics fail to give reliable estimates.

Weigh each decision carefully and be open to discussion. More than half of patients would be trying an alternative medication, a supplement, and a good number never discuss it with the physician. This is potentially dangerous - while the supplements may do no harm by itself - combining them with chemotherapy can cross the narrow safety margins of the chemo drugs.

Think about other scenarios also - sometimes the best thing is not to beat the cancer if it means the patient has to endure the adverse effects of treatment options.

Thanks to you all for the encouragement. My father was diagnosed in November and he happens to be in the latter stages. They are doing a CT scan on the 12th of may to see if the chemo is shrinking the tumor any at all. if so, they think they can go in and cut it out once it shrinks small enough. he seems to be doing much better with breathing now, so hopefully it is shrinking. I am in Missouri and will read up on the links you gave me...I know the ultimate answer to his disease is believing My Lord, Jesus Christ! No Matter what is said, we are believing he is healed! Thanks Again for your support.

I am glad that your dad is doing well. I am curious how long ago was he diagnosised and how far along it was. I too believe in thanking Him for our healing and trusting in Him. My husband was diagnosis in 2004 it was found by accident due to something else. He had his upper left lobe removed. No chemo. It was found in one of the earliest forms. The chemo could have done him more damaged, so we did not opt for it. This is the first time he has gone one year before a check which he will have in march. In most of my research and talking with those that have worked with it, it is much more difficult once it gets to a latter stage. I lost a cousin in law, younger than my husband 5 months ago to it, it was found in it's latest stage. A word to all, don't be afraid to check something out, better to find something early and tackle it & beat it.  God gives us wisdom, and not the spirit of fear.  A beginning not an end.   Good luck & God Bless.

information & links that may be of help to you but you have to READ ALOT on one site because they do offer links for natural supplements that you can find in your local supermarket if you are willing to read & write them down so you can get them for a reasonable price.  I am not selling anything; just trying to give you some hope because I believe that hope & faith are #1cure.  Also; I don't know where you are & the 2nd link is for a clinic in the USA but you might want to look for government clinical trials in your area.  Good luck to you
