Would histoplasmosis light up a lymph node on a PET scan?

Hi,

Yes, Histoplasmosis will have similar features as lung cancer.

The question is how frequent are cases of histoplasmosis in your area, as this of course would have a bearing on the confidence of reading the PET.

It would be a good idea to obtain fluid from the airways through a scope inserted (called a bronchoscopy) to obtain a sample that can be used to investigate for cancer or histoplasmosis.
