what does this all mean 4 nodules, 2 lymph nodes involved

2 yr ago I had a chest scan and it showed 2 lung nodules, bottom of both lung collapsed and emphezema. Had another scan the end of this past Dec. Went to see my doctor last week to go over the recent scan and there are 2 more 4mm nodules, ant have a shorty lymph node near the tracheal and another glass like lymph node.
What is a shorty lymph node and glass like lymph node . Doctor say 25% that its cancer and wants to do another scan in 6 myths. Seeing a lung doctor on the 18th but going to try to get a sooner apt. I think 6 myths is long to wait and think I should get a pet scan very soon . I really need to know what is going on. Please give me you advice about all and any suggestions I should ask the lung doctor when I se him. Thank you for your time.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
I can understand your apprehensions. Usually multiple opacities or nodules in lung which are less than 10 mm in size are due to conditions like inflammation, tuberculosis (military type with multiple lesions), asbestosis, silicosis, auto-immune diseases etc. Some of these conditions can also cause swollen lymph nodes which can be shotty or pellet like. A lymph node may be filled with glass like material. This usually happens in amyloidosis, sarcoidosis or in cancer. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
