Lyme and Hormone Imbalance

Hi there,

I'm currently being tested for Lyme as is my 3 year old son, as I had a tick bite shortly before conceiving, and my son has complete heart block.

I received some hormone test results that were abnormal today and wondered if there is a link between them and Lyme Disease? My SHBG were highly abnormal (not sure if high or low yet, waiting for Dr appointment) and my progesterone is nearly non-existent.

Any ideas please?

Sorry to hear what you are going through.  If your doc is not highly experienced in Lyme disease, then I would consider locating a Lyme specialist for a second angle for you and for your son.  Sorry that's not much of an explanation, but once you have the test results back, then the path may be clearer.  Please let us know how you do -- and don't give up!  Lyme can indeed be beaten, with the right doc, the right diagnosis, and the right treatment.

and PS, if you need help finding a Lyme specialist near you, try going to the ILADS website (short for 'International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society') and look for their referral link for Lyme specialist MDs near you.  Lyme is a relatively new infection, and the medical community is still rather confused about how to diagnose and treat it.  That makes finding a specialist even more important:  many MDs *think* they understand Lyme, but really aren't up to par.  That's why going for a referral from ILADS is helpful ... and if you don't click with the first doc, then ask for another name from ILADS.  Best wishes, and let us know how you do, okay?
