Thanks for the data!  I didn't know any of that -- very helpful.

But ... chocolate??  Oh noes!  I've been sprinkling unsweetened chocolate powder over bananas for a treat ... hmmm....

I am looking at the box of ginseng tea bags that works better for me (I tossed the other one) and it has

Eleuthero root 920mg
American Ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) root 45mg
Asian Ginseng (Panax ginseng) root 30 mg

If memory serves, the one that I threw away was just one variety, but I can't remember which.  Hmm.  I will look for the book and for the Siberian ginseng -- thanks again!

Bart has a five-day reproductive cyvle, so start taking note of when it reaches a climax and passes, and see if it fits approximately a 4 to 6 day cycle. Mine does. Apparently it breeds right under the skin and then migrates into the body. Yuck!!!
I never exercise, unfortunately, but for me it gets really aggravated if I have a nice hot bath. I have to make the water fairly tepid.

Meanwhile, Jackie, re: the ginseng tea, have you read James Wilson's book Adrenal Fatigue?
That helped me immensely. After years of Lyme, my adrenals were completely burnt out and I was permanently exhausted adn unable to cope with stress at all. He gives advice on nutrients your adrenals need, all the herbs that are good for rebalancing them (i.e. calmig them when overactive adn stimulating them gently when underactive), and other things to avoid that give them a hammering.  eg. Did you know chocolate kills your adrenals dead, as does heat-damaged (fried) fat? So those are 2 things to avoid when stressed.
Anyway the thing I wanted to say about ginseng was that, according to him, Siberian Ginseng is very good for women but normal ginseng isn't, his advice is that women should just not use normal ginseng at all.

Wow...when did she star passing the worms?  Some days I feel like I am getting better...but then the twitching wormy, burning comes back strong..takes a day to recover....it gets really agrivated when I exercise...I have upped my potassium and mag...helps before I go to bed. I heard treatment can strip these types and the infection itself.  I wonder how many others feel or have similar symptoms

My wife benefited from bulstering her immune system at the Serria Integrated Medical Clinic in Reno, and from later doing a salt and viamin C treatment that exposed to us the fact that she also had some type of worms. After passing a very large amount of these inch long thread like worms, the burning in her hands and arms went away.

I've been under a lot of stress lately, and a wise friend recommended ginseng tea for 'adrenal support' ... I'm well enough postLyme to have way too much energy when under stress, and I find some ginseng tea really evens things out.

I don't know how this would have affected me when I had Lyme etc., but it sure is helping now, so for what it's worth ....

I have Bart, too. I actually tested midway into the 'equivocal' range at IGeneX. I guess you could call it "not negative". My doc calls it "positive". Since I had had it for 6 years by then, it is amazing I still had enough antibodies to show up on the test.

The only signs I had of Bart were that I had lots of neuro and gut symptoms and anxiety. I did 3 months of Rifampin, but I was sure it was contributing to my stomach pain. I switched to Avelox but had a big cramp in my achilles heel. Then I switched to Levaquin and have had no trouble with it. Stomach pain has declined. No anxiety since starting the Levaquin!  (Warning: Levaquin can be bad for some people.)

Lyme and coinfections do bizarre and distressing things to a body!  I am glad to hear you have started treatment!

Hiya,
I took abx for 18 months and gotspectacular improvements in bart symptoms quite quickly. Problem was, the symnptoms were nearlygone, but off bactrim, they al came back in no time!
Just last week I (reluctantly and anxiously) switched to antibiotic herbs instead, because the antibiotics were suppressing my WBC production too much.
So far I feel MUCH better than I did, but I don't know what is happening to Bart levels yet. One of the herb combos I am on is specifically designed to kill bart - my doc gets the herb company to produce a special pack for him with all the right herbs in a single bottle so it is easier to take.
Please cross your fingers for me!

When you start taking an abx, especially for the first time, there is always the herxing that comes with it which feels like a worsening of your symptoms. It usually goes away after some time but can be expected to make you feel worse before you get better. It really is scary and if if it wasnt for people on my support groups, I would have thought I was dying. Good luck to you and let us know how it goes.

This is amazing how many are affected.  How long have you been treating? I don't know when I got it as I never really had any funky symptoms up until 4 years ago.   But 25 years ago I lived in colo. and we used to hike a lot and I my parents would check me for ticks.    Thanks for the thought on nerve meds. I will ask my doctor.

I have bart and most of my symptoms are a bit different from yours - but equally scary adn horrible. I get crazy itching that wanders all over my body, my knee and ankle joints feel as if they are about to give out, and also apparently bart is guilty for causing the same brainsymptoms as lyme but much worse - when I first got it (age 19) I had a mental regression so bad I forgot how to read, then how to speak adn eventually for almost one year I could not understand just about anything people said to me. My doc sait it also give many people severe emotional/(psychologicalo symptoms and can even make some people develop schizophrenic symptoms.

Definitely Bart is so horrible, I actually think it may be worse than Lyme disease.

There are 16 types of bart and only 2 of them can be lab tested so you cannot monitor the severity of the infection under treatment,m you just have to go on symptoms.

I was put on Bactrim (also called cotrim) along with monicyclkine and this worked a treat, but I took a break from bactrim for 3 months (went on azith to get my chlamydia pneumonia under control) and in that time it developed resistance to bactrim. Now I'm on a different therapy and I feel a LOT better psychologically (much happier adn not depressed at all) but it's to early to comment on overall progress.

If you have a lot of symptoms in nerves, you could ask the doctor abotu lyrica. It has stopped my itching so I can actually sleep at night now. It helps great with all the nerve pains that bart causes. It would definitely get rid of the crawly worms feeling (OGM isn't that just the most unbearable symptom?) and it might be able to help the numbness too - I would definitely ask you  doctor about it if I were you.
