Yes, my ears rang like crazy when I was sick but undiagnosed -- I said to one of my doctors that it was so loud I was surprised SHE couldn't hear it. She didn't get it.
I was also VERY sensitive to noise, and somewhat to light. And cranky? Ooo.
So any noise had me complaining no end. I had a little vertigo sometimes, but not much.
With treatment, it's all resolved.
Try ear plugs at night...
I took antihistamines to help me sleep, but my sleep was very light and I was getting crazy from lack of deep dreaming sleep. I told my LLMD I was using be-ne-dryl [spelled funny to fool the spellchecker here] to sleep and was asked if I was getting 'be-ne-dryl dreams' -- wild, bizarre, almost nightmarish dreams -- and indeed I was. With abx treatment, it all went away and I'm sleeping like a champ again.
I have tinnitis 24/7 and hyperacusis sporadically. Fork hitting a plate was horrible! but even my own voice bothered me because it was too loud so I had to start speaking softer.
I just had my ears/hearing checked last week and they said my hearing was good. This is very bothersome. My ears ache, and every little sound is making me cringe. I'm the same way at night too... last night I couldn't sleep cause my hubby was breathing too loud!! :) I've also felt today along with the ear issues that my balance is a bit off and I feel dizzy too. Is that probably being caused from the ear issues I'm having?
I do:) It's called hyperacusis. Any little sound can make me jump. It comes and goes with tinnitus for me. Tinnitus and hyperacusis go hand in hand. It can mean nothing, it can mean something. These are symptoms that are neurological, but anything can bring it on. Every human being alive has experienced tinnitus at least once in their life. Causes can include: meds, stress, allergies, neurological issues, aspirin even, and the list goes on and on.
If your hearing is muffled, you may want to watch out for ear infections or wax build up. Have you ever noticed that you will lose a bit of your hearing though, right before tinnitus starts ringing? That's what happens to me. If you ever have a sudden, complete hearing loss, that's when its time to go to the ER immediately.
It is only a little bothersome to me when I am trying to sleep and my husband makes a tiny sound that seems really loud. I think mine is due to the medicine I take at night.
