Sorry to hear about your son, but it seems like he has a good MD now. You already know how crucial that is.
The young ones seem to bounce back pretty fast sometimes and to tolerate the meds well -- I hope that is true for your son too. I don't think it's all that clear when the early stage ends and the chronic one begins, but early treatment is always preferred -- however don't lose hope!

Yes it is a hard and a misunderstood disease. I wish more could be done. I just pray that treatment with antibiotics stops the misery in its tracks so one can live life again. I wish everyone healing from this disease. I have been down lately because now my 16 yr old son has tested positive by cdc on the Igm igenex and positive on the Igg by igenex standerds. It took another md to start treatment right away as he is falling into the chronic stage. The md wanted to know why his primary dr did not start doxy right away when it came back positive in early june. I told the new dr how some dr's think it is in our minds, the md's reply was, "I would be so mad". EXCACTLY!!!!
