discussing lyme

hi, I actually spoke to someone today - who has had lyme - it was so nice to have a conversation with someone who understands.

I am feeling a lot more relaxed at the moment about it all.

I have spent the last 3/4 days basically crawling around the house or in bed - I am still in a bit of pain [well a lot compared to a normal human being !] - but it is easing of - I am pretty certain I am 'herxing' - I only took 10 days abx. but having thought it through -  I have been taking a few different abx. since a chest infection at xmas - so think that I had already built up levels in my blood - and then the 'doxy' spiked it up - that is my theory anyway.

I spoke to my LLMD yesterday - and he reassured me - he said to not be scared by the worsening of symptoms - he is the one medical person that I do have faith in - like my 'brother' said - 'you have to trust someone ' - [in the medical profession that is] .

I am going back on 'doxy' soon and hope  that my digestive system will be  o.k.! or I will have to change to different abx.

Gorbybelle,

Are you taking a probiotics like Florastor with your meds?

I haven't been on doxy, so don't know how it is, but I've been on other stuff that is known to be hard on the digestive system.

Florastor is a brand of Saccaromyces boulardii (S. boulardii) that my LLMD specifically recommends and it replenishes the good bacteria your gut needs to keep from getting C. difficile Hope75 mentions.  That is very very nasty and can be life threatening in severe cases, so worth avoiding.

Your doctor sounds nice -- I'm glad!  Take care.

Oh my, I hope you start to feel better.  I had one course of doxy and I felt terrible after only a few days.  It was that weak dosage that the CDC recommends.  My primary doc prescribed after my positive ELISA.  You said your digestive system is upset.  You don't have C-Diff infection do you? (diarrhea - it's quite terrible)  I would definitely get that taken care of if so, and quickly.

It is nice to speak to someone who knows your pain.  I feel your pain too, so take care and feel better soon!
