lyme's question.

Ok, i live with a man who says he has Lymes disease and i am very naive to this disease in its entirety, so i figure i would refer to others who suffer from this.

This man is driving me insane, and i guess i am just wanting some validation of all of this.

He claims to be in excruciating pain all day every day, his back hurts, he cant get out of bed, his memory is affected by the disease, it limits his ability to do anything, he throws up, it makes him sick, gives him headaches, doctors wont treat him, i dont know i guess i just dont see this disease as being an on-going ever-occurring thing. This dude is ridiculous. it is all he talks about. how much he hurts, how much he cant do anything, he cant bend over, he cant do this or that. Does anyone else always ***** and moan and complain about how much it affects their life?

Please help before i go crazy.

Thanks,
Richmond, VA.

thank you for your kind words! My husband went to my LLMD with me on Monday and when she said to him that his wife was going to experience things that she wouldnt wish on her worst enemy he looked over at me and mouthed IM SORRY thats all he had to say, I think he gets it not everything but enough for now. All I wanted was him to be willing to learn with me, and I think I now have that. I know it can be hard for people when a love one is sick and as frusterating as it is for me I know it must be for him aswell. Also please go get yourself retested and your children aswell lyme is passed to kids through child birth and signs start showing as early as 2 I believe. There is a chat room on lymenet (dot) com there are several people there that have kids with lyme that could help you.  Kids respond well to treatment and alot get better and go on to live normal lives. Your symptoms sound like a relapse not MS!  they told me I had MS and Lupus and then fibro becuase all my tests were neg! a good LLMD would treat you in an instant! if I can do anything for you please let me know! thanks!

This is what lyme does to you.  It affects your life in every way possible.  No one understands unless they have gone through it themselves.  It is not a simple disease to treat and it does not always get better.  A lot of us are no longer the people we used to be, but we do try every day to get better.  We need supportive people in our lives.  It's so important!

I had lyme 18 years ago when I was 14. I remember experiencing all those symptoms...arthritis, aching, room spinning, lights flashing (when they really weren't)...and at one point was so bed-ridden, I had to crawl anywhere I needed to go, which was usually only the bathroom.

Today, 3 kids later, they all have some sort of allergy and/or asthma, and I am currently experiencing some strange brand new neurological symptoms that mimic, or may be, those of MS. Heart irregularities, severe depression, muscle pain and twitching, rigidity in my foot, extra thirsty, an extra-dry eye...and so on...I have yet to find out & am still going through tests.

I realize now I have not even mentioned I had had lyme disease to my current doctor! Maybe there's a link, maybe not, but I will be sure to inform him the next round.

I am also experiencing severe memory loss, and am also suffering the loss of important memories such as those of my kids as babies, and even a bunch of my own experiences. Sometimes I'll see pictures and still can't remember the moments.

I feel for you and what you're going through. I nearly suffered what we think was either a panic attack or a relapse during the end of taking online college courses! I feel very lucky to have a very supportive partner.

You said it all.  Very good post.  I think people find out what their spouse/significant others are really about when a bad illness comes along.

When I read that it sounded like ME! I am in front royal VA it is epidemic in VA  I was bit in Aug and am about to start treatment. If you cant hadle it dont be with him! really my husband is an *** and I was always very active before lyme and still do what I can except on really bad days but it is very painful the stabbing pain in your body is unrelenting and when I move my bones sound like they are cracking. my memory is horrible I am struggling to stay in college, ( I am 26) I also develped a heart condition called IST from Lyme and twitching and my spine hurts...and every day can be different but you are always in pain! He need someone that is going to support him and be proactive in his treatment, take an intersst read a little but get on a chat room learn what you can do to help him with diet or supplments to get better if hes not doing it now. Its hard to have this and yes very painful and its hard not to complain sometimes and recovery is a long road and a trial of medications. No one asks for this! I sure as heck didnt! I am fighting like heck to get better but its hard and scary and frusterating and painful and if hes up and trying to live a normal life bravo to him, I try and its hard im wiped out at the end of the day. My short term memory is shot! I hate that the most and forgetting my son and daughters childhood, I dont remember my son as a baby and my daughter is one and I try to hold on to everyhtin g I can with pictures and writing things down but I cry every day that I have lost this. Its sad disease please support him thats what people need my mother is constantly telling me im pathetic or a bad mom when i know I try as hard as I can and I do all that I can do and then some and at the end of the day i have to be ok with that. he needs support and love and understanding. He needs a LLMD to treat him there are a few in this area I go to fairfax VA lyme disease is very complicated I read every day about lyme and co infections and still dont understand what I need to know. get healing lyme (book) and go to youtube and type in lyme disease and watch a couple videos u will understand better after this!

Yes.  It causes all of those things.  It will probably be a long, hard road for both of you.  Especially if he is not getting any treatment.  It's very hard on relationships like any other chronic illness.
