Books

What books are you reading/have read that you would recommend to the group, and why?

My current favorite is 'Raising Baby Green' by Alan Greene, M.D.  - It is an amazing resource that provides tips and information about providing your baby with the best environment inside the womb, and out that you possibly can. It doesn't preach at you, but rather gives insight and ideas to consider.. even if just one at a time. The best book of its kind that I have read.

I purchased mine off Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Raising-Baby-Green-Earth-Friendly-Childbirth/dp/078799622X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1279831371&sr=8-1

About to read 'Feeding Baby Green' by the same author, and 'Belly Laughs' by Jenny McCarthy :)

What to expect when your expecting. I think it's a great book because it addresses nearly everything in pregnancy. It starts from before even getting pregnant to even after. This is my first so I want to know everything!

I recommend it :)

Belly Laughs was funny :) It wasn't really that informative, but more of a light-hearted read that also made me feel like "okay good, i'm not the only one" - she has a fun personality so it kept me laughing!

I am running by the library next week to pick up a couple of those books cuz y'all got my interest sparked now..lol.

mmeriche - I am also a big book nerd. I was taught in early grades at school how to speed read (even when I dont want to >< ). When I got the Twilight books I read all four in 1 night and re-read them 8 more times before I was good. Even now I will pick them up and re-read every now and again. I cant put a book down once I start unless it just doesnt peek my interest. Charlene Harris has a set of 10 books so far relating to True Blood series. If you liked Twilight...you will LOVE her set. We call it (excuse me for saying so) pretty much a vampire porno. Way more adult but story line is awesome.
It has everything...mystery, romance, villains, and a lot of sexual tension and suspense. Vampire Diaries is also a good set but my favs r definitely the ones by Charlene Harris.

haha! yes, the twilight series sucked me in as well.. also about to read 'Empire of the Summer Moon' - a novel about the rise and fall of the Comanche Indians! :book nerd raises hand: i meant to specify in my question pregnancy and baby-related books, but any read suggestion is welcome! some days reading may be all we feel up to doing, eh?

I guess I am the oddball cuz I am stuck on books like the series from Charlene Harris (True Blood), The Vampire Diaries, Twilight series, anything John Saul and Stephen King and any type of mystery or romance I can get my hands on. I will have to look some of the books up you all mentioned tho..they sound interesting.

I have heard Belly Laughs is great and I really want to read it this time around!  When I was pregnant with my daughter I read Becoming Baby Wise...The author slips my mind.  It is all about helping your baby to become a confident well adjusted child.  It talked a lot about schedules and I found it to be a tad overwhelming at first, but once I put into real life after I had her it made a lot of sense.

Well I have the "What to expect when you're expected" it has a wealth of information and has been recommended by people I trust who are recent moms but go with what you are comfortable with.
