i hear you on the second hand smoke, and i used to be a smoker too, i quit the day i found out i was pregnant - and it wasn't hard cuz i had noticed a week before we found out they weren't doing anything for me- and actually making me turn "green" But my husband still smokes... and i can't stand it!! we never ever smoked in the house - so that's good, but when he comes in from having one, i make him wash his hands, brush his teeth, and change his clothes lol the smell sends me running for the hills!!!
DH says that he wants to quit - and im giving him 9 months to try.. i know it's hard, and i know that if i wasn't pregnant i would still be smoking.. but now that we are bringing a baby into this world, i dont want our lives cut short cuz of a nasty habit that kills you a little bit everyday - i want my husband to be healthy and my baby (ies) healthy (god willing)
* my sister knows of this woman - she has 3 children, she smoked thru all her pregnancies.
her youngest daughter, who is 4 yrs old has STAGE 4 cancer ;) 4 years old!! im not a doctor, and i dont know this woman or her family, but i can't pretty much bet money on the fact that if this woman didnt' smoke, then maybe her daughter wouldn't be that sick?? idk that's just my opinion..
here's hoping everyone is blessed with a healthy pregnancy and happy healthy babies!!
I quit before I got pregnant with my daughter and now it really does bother me too...I live in Illinois and there is a law in place that no one can smoke in a public place so it really cuts down on having to be around the smoke. Although, my mother in law smokes non-stop and I can't stand to be in their house. She is really good not to smoke while we are there, but the smell is still all over us when we leave. It just bugs me most when I have to smell it on my daughter and now that I am pregnant again we will be visiting even less!
I use to be one of those about 8yrs ago. I got pregnant with my first son 2 months after quitting. I cant stand the smell now and do not allow it in my home or vehicle. I am world's worst about chiding strangers to move it away from my kids but I think I am over pushy in that aspect cuz my youngest son has asthma. He is 5 and it is not fair for him to suffer cuz others are addicted to nasty habits.
I think back to when I smoked and it irritates me still to know I was addicted to smoking. I woke up one morning and just never picked up another..sort of. It was a funny thing...my hubby and his sister paid $50 each to see a hypnotist and was given a tape to listen to at night while they slept to aid in the backing of the hypnotizing. They didnt quit but I did. I think for it to work the person really needs the desire to quit. Either way...I am happy it worked for me.
Definitely with you. It's disgusting & it smells terribly. What's worse is that they do it when children are around!!! Yuck.
