If the father of an unborn child is using drugs (i.e., marijuana and/or cocaine)will it effect the fetus? Please elaborate.
Drug use in men may influence sperm production. There is some suggestion that drugs can cause breaks in chromosomes. Presumably these sperm would not be capable to promoting fertilization and if they did, the resultant egg would not implant and grow or it would lead to early miscarriage.
There has been no description of a drug syndrome from use by father as there is a fetal alcohol syndrome described in mothers who drink alcohol or withdrawal syndromes as there are for babies born to mothers using street drugs.
