I don't know about the speeling part. I've used ms word with the nags on, or sometimes the online dictionary.

Other times I try to make the best effort I can and try to spot typos before hitting send. Easier said than done sometimes...

As for cleaning keywoards...Swampy bought himself a special keyboard that can be completely disassembled and cleaned a few years ago. Plus its got a solid steel back (weights 7.5 lb) and so can be used as a weapon on whoever is bothering you.

hi ,...yes i used the can of air and it is good for dislodging all the stuff out between
all of the buttons ,....i tend to eat crackers when im having my tea ,and some of
the crumbs makes the buttons stick ,...

also when i set to long my sciatica starts of in my back and it runs down my leg
so it ant good for the back to sit to long at the computer ,.in saying that my husband hates  me on it ,so i sit even longer but the only one im hurting at the end of the day is myself ,.
mj get a new keyboard they are cheep enough  to buy ,.

I've done the up-side-down method, also I've used paint brushes. Pick one that has a fine edge, like a flat or a small round.

I have another problem:  Short of buying a new keyboard, is there any way to resolve a keyboard where the letters have worn off?

I have some keys that look blank now..  My "U" and "I" keys look the same... and now O looks like "I"
It's a black keyboard, so I can't use sharpie (which seems to wear off quickly anyway)

Margy

In use gravity turn it upside down slap it a few times and all kinds of junk flows down to ground ,,,,,qtips just seem to lodge stuff in tighter.

He He he , know what you mean mine spends all day in a workshop he has set up cutting up wood and making himself sick with Toxins in the glues and Epoxy stuff, but me I laze around on the PC feel guilty, run down, do 3 things then come back, my family like to get on my case about it but I ignore them, they dont live in my house now anyway.they think I should take up Tennis and running again, well I still sail out into the Pacific, when the weather is right for it.

Yup MJ I think I have that kind of personality also I get caught up I use the PC to find out so many things, I have used it a lot for health questions and alwayss been happy with what I have learnt plus a few surprises , if I am travelling I look up the place and country and book everything online , I dont like paying bills online, I wonder why? Its not that I dont trust the method I think its a matter of doing everything the way I have always done and not liking change, does that make sense to anyone one?

I agree with jollyman about anything being an addiction. I have an addictive personality. Just about anything I enjoy gets to be an obsession, inlcluding my computer and what things I use it for.

I used to be engaged in different computer games.  Some people can drink alcohol in moderation.  Same with computer games and activities. Some people can set a timer and that be it..

But for me it didn't work that way.  These were some signs I noticed when I crossed the line from stress reducer to addiction:

Computer games that were fun quit being fun. I'd play them to win points. if the point total didn't reach near the max, then I felt I didn't do enough.

I was also in some "art contest" where in order to make the top three to win, I had to go around and get the most votes by members in that community.  I had great artwork, but it was more a popularity contest than a true art contest. I spent way too much time campaigning for votes and neglected a lot of things in the process.
If I didn't win I'd feel hurt because of the time wasted and feel a degree of shame, knowing I could have spent my time better.

I found myself checking the website any available time I had. It didn't matter if it was time in computer class and I was supposed to be doing something. I thought as long as I was keeping pace with the class I was doing okay...

I was in denial.  I'd rationalize it off, blame it on anything but the computer game... It was painfully obvious to those around me I needed to severly cut back on the time I wasted on the game.  I'd turn off my monitor or close the window whenever my parents or a teacher, etc would walk by.

I found myself having to be online at certain times each day to fit the times things occured in the online community.
Physical problems: sore wrists and sore finger joints.... That did little to stop me.

For me it was an addiction. What really helped me put it into perspective was reading stuff here on medhelp shared by those facing addictions.  That woke me up and made me realize I can't go back to those online gaming communities.  I have tried to moderate myself and failed in the past.  If I tried to go online there again, then I'll fail again.
----------------

As far as being here at times I think I'm being cought up in another addiction and at times think it is justfied because I am reaching out to get support and give support.

I'm hoping though that if I can get involved in more real life activities I will be on the computer much less and be more active in other areas in my life.
