Another "What If" Scenario...

You're in the hospital and you're going to have a surgery that there is a very high chance you won't survive.

You can pick ONE BOOK to read before the surgery (assume you have however many days it would take to finish it before the surgery).

This would be the last book you read on earth.

What book do you pick???

(For the purpose of this, no official religious texts. No old or new testaments, the Qur'an, etc...so you could pick, say, the Psalms of King David, but not the five Gospels).

Trilogies are acceptable answers. I was thinking of Ursula LeGuin's "Earth Sea" Trilogy, which is really one book. ;)

Just out of curiosity, have you read any of Gibran's other works? I tried one or two but just didn't find them that interesting.

Well, it was meant to be. I found myself going the same route. The book I picked is actually for teenagers (Earth Sea Trilogy). Its beautifully written with a good, positive message to it and characters you can really love and appreciate.

well I kinda thought this was a serious thread.I was going to say I would read my childrens baby books, to replay all the years of my life, and go into that surgery knowing I lived a good life, however, I think I would read how to haunt your husband from beyond, that way if he picked up with some hussy I would come back and make sure it fell limp every chance I got.

I would read "How to get even with your doctor."That's if such a book even exist. But the one on haunting would suit me best.
