I was thinking the same thing. It would be hillarious if that was true or if it did.......absolutely nothing, lol.
I loaded the norton and McAfee site without problems. I think I'm fine. I could probably use a day off the internet... repot some more African violets, finish a picture, do some painting. The possiblities are endless, lol.
I think you should be. Symnatec also suggest you change all your shared files to read only... Anyway, hiding sounds good to me!! No one knows what's going to happen. I'm waiting for us all to get a message saying "haha, it was fun watching everyone panic". I'm mean really, did they have to pick April 1st?? Oh well, I bet you'll be fine b/c microsoft specifically modified their tools to search for this worm. I'm guessing we'll all have a lot of freetime on our hands tomorrow though since no one will be online!!!
I tried the onecare scan and it appears it does crash my computer. :( At least when I tried it once. I did do the software removal tool I mentioned before and that worked. It found no threats on my computer. I am okay? =/
I think I'll turn off my computer and hide under a rock for a day, lol.
Okay everybody go to this website. It's the story about the worm and has links to the sites to run the scans to protect your computer or to find the worm if it's already in there. If it's already in there it also tells you how to get rid of it. P.S. I did the microsoft scan they have, and it did not crash my computer. (some say it does, guess it depends on the computer)

This is really upsetting. How can anyone live with themselves putting people through this for their own benefit?
I thought we were just not supposed to accept any friends invite to any websites tomorrow?
The Department of Homeland Security also has released a network-detection tool for this worm, although it sounds like that this is only for the government.

I am NOT turning on my computer tomorrow!!!! Any comments or questions, refer to April LOL
It is true. Check out Platelet girl's post. If you have a good anti-virus installed and firewall I think you should be ok.
