I am most impressed at the giving the Big 3 made and I hope and pray that they will revamp their business plans and improve their after market service so that they can survive and become more competitive and profitable.

It is true that there is a huge number of parts in Big 3 produced vehicles that are not North American.  Many of the Japanese car producers have more North American product (but Japanese engineering) in their vehicles.  In Canada we force the auto makers to produce enough cars here to match the ratio of sales (they don't have to produce each model but enough vehicles to match over all sales).  I live in an area where we heavily rely on the automotive industry.  I live close to many Big 3 plants but also live very close to two Toyota plants.  I do consider their cars North American built and Toyota participates quite heavily in contributing to charities, etc. and supporting the local communities.

Job well done. I have alot of family members employeed by Ford. My dad retired from there along with 4 of his brother. I still have cousins working there. My driveway has 3 fords in it. The only thing that bugs me is when they want you to buy american, and when you open the hood, you'll see made in japan or mexico. So the car isn't totally american. I think that american car makers need to be 100 percent american in their products. Don't like looking at a trany that says made in japan. And I really don't like to see any product coming in from China. But it's nice to know that our Big three were very generous during 9/11. I think that these other car makers are doing well since they pocket all of their money. Heard Honda has been taking on more employees. I believe another 900 jobs? And our big 3 are letting people go. How sad., we all need to buy american to keep our country going. We have to save our people in the good old U.S.A.
