Oh, but I do believe in fairies, like Tinkerbell.
From what I was taught..
I too think we are appointed once to die...
The bible says 53 times that death is a sleep. So I guess I believe that's what the dead are doing before Jesus comes to awaken the righteous dead. He'll gather them together to take to heaven with the righteous living.
I respect and admire your complete faith! Some things I still struggle with, I just have so many questions. I think that probably has more to do with my nature, rather than non-belief... :)
Being a Born again believer, I do not believe in re-incarnation. The bible clearly states that we are appointed ONCE to die and after that our souls join the Lord to live in Heaven for ever. Our Lord gives us only one birth and one death. The only other birth He gives us is the gift of "eternal life" when we are "born again" and become children of the most high.
I remain receptive to the concept. Jung from what I recall has the shared conciousness ;imited to basic, primitive concepts (fear of fire, death, etc).
I'd suggest to all that if you write a long post you copy/ paste it into notepad or word "just in case".
I've had some unfortunate accidents with the navigation button this site that have wiped out entire posts. After all, navigate away, and you can hit "back"... but the message will still be gone.
Unfair that you were erased. Perhaps you could put your words in your journal for those of us interested in your thoughts.
My belief is that as we die, the soul leaves the body. It hold no information such as memory, behavior nor anything else. It is just a container of life-energy - or "prana", "chi". It will be soaring around until it finds a new body where it can bring new life. After all, we're just molecules when it comes down to the final chip...
But then I believe in a human's electromagnetic field too. People might think holistic medicine sounds strange but allthough I can't explain it, I've experienced how some persons seem to refill you of joy and others just deplete you as far as energy goes. Just to explain why I believe in meridians and energy-fields, I can tell you that when my daughter has headaches, I use tapping techniques and acupressure to linger it (this could be explained by regular medicine too).
To us human beings, it has become so that if we don't understand something, we give up trying. There is a reason for foreign cultures and beliefs too.
Perhaps I was a buddhist monk in my previous life *lol*
I'd like to hear what you said as well!!
post me a note and tell me what you said...I'm very curious why you would have got the boot...I can't imagine it.
Baron, I have believed in inherited memories for a good portion of my life, I've come to accept it as much more logical than not. I don't know how extensive Jungian archetypal memories are, but I'm not sure if I believe in a collective memory for a species or the universe as a whole, but I remain open to it. There are some interesting concepts out there, that suggest memories aren't just stored in the brain, but also in body parts and possibly outside the body (Rupert Sheldrake).
Hey! My post is missing ! I can't believe it! I was up late last night and wrote a really nice long thingy that was not critical or anything, if anything I was ultra understanding and tolerant! ..this is the 2nd time I have been booted!
I do not believe in reincarnation. I believe that we are one soul, with one life and death and then we live for eternity as children of a loving God.
I do agree with the concept of inherited memories but for me I'll take it further and say that we remember things because we were once spirits and saw many things in that form.
Interesting concept flmagi, I've been giving that some thought lately as well.
No, not being a Buddhist I don't beleive in reincarnation. I do find the concept of inherited memory interesting. I wonder just how extensive Jungian archetypical memories are.
I don't believe in it. I am a Christian and God says it is appointed unto men once to die.
Plus if you believe that, then how could you eat anything? You might be eating Aunt Ethel, or cut down trees for furniture, you might be chopping up your brother, Jim.
Or cut the grass? that would be all cutting down all kinds of people because there are many, many, many, blades of grass in the yard.
You asked for beliefs, remember?
I don't know if I believe in reincarnation, but I do believe in inherited memories.
About 35 years ago, my girlfriends and I had a huge Psychic Party, where all of us had readings done. At the time, I was married to my first husband, had 1 child, a girl, and had no plans, whatsoever, to have another child. Her name was Vivian, tall, blond, beautiful and completely normal...she told me that I was a new soul and had never been here before, and that I had 2 children, I said "no," she said, "then you will have another and by a different man!" As much as, it's fun to be read...I thought she was totally wrong, she did however, tell me that I was a bit difficult to read fully, because, I had the ability to do what she does...so, I thought about it, laughed about it and forgot about it.
Ten years later, I left my first husband and eventually we divorced. I met my current husband about a year later, and, we did end up getting pregnant, (ever here of the Today sponge ladies?) and I had a son...
I have another story, that is sort of related to this one, and has more to do with the possibility of reincarnation....I will tell you about that one, a little further down the thread, so that, other people, can have a chance to comment...don't want to monopolize the thread...;0
I had a dream once....I'm thinking I was the owner of a saloon in the old west....I was walking down the stairs slow and quiet to investigate a noise....I could feel kind of a rough texture of a robe, could see a farell? wheel over against the wall and a mirror....and I heard this faint scaping noise...I sat straight up in the bed said "whose there?"
and my husband said....well who do you think is walking into our bedroom in the middle of the night? The door scraped as he was coming in....that's what made me jump up...It was a bit....embarrassing and kind of eerie... LOL.
But I do plan on living in Heaven forever! :) I think it sounds awesome! Streets of gold, gates made of pure pearl, the river of life and God's light reflecting everything. Wow!
I personally don't believe in it because I'm a Christian and the Bible says we live and die once.
I don't know that I do or don't believe. I guess there really is no way to know.
I too was told by a physic years ago that I was an old soul, had been here before and was a woman then too. You would think if that was true I would get it right this time round! Not!
