Does your 3 year old Cuss

I was watching the news this morning and an item caught my attention, they said that children as young as 3 year old now are saying  big curse words, like the F word , the Sh word  ,I wondered if you have noticed this trend ,they also pointed out that it came from Mommy and Daddy cursing more today more than ever ..Any thoughts ?

I never cursed when i was young i was never punished for it because i did it once in some ways. I always had lots of respect and always wanted to make my parent proud. -_- i curse now but im 20 so yea I have that right. But i remember turning towards my mom and giving her the bird and asking what that meant she told me to never do that again and it meant nothing important. I remember when i was young cursing was this big deal you did with just your friend in secret and it was like a big joke. but now these little punks walk in a store yell F**** you and B**** like it was nothing. I wanted to puke and im not even that old. I just couldnt believe it. So i told them to shut the f**** up lol o and i kicked them out :D

well i did refuse service but i did cuss them out it would have meant nothing.

LOL. There's a little boy I watch who can't pronounce "tr" either and when I first heard him try to say truck(I knew beacuse he was holding his car), my jaw dropped. I was stunned he'd say the word. He's 2 and a half. I just hope he can grow out of that pretty quick. We're working on pronunciation.

ther'es no doubt that making a big deal of it makes it worse its kind of feeding into negative attention, kids are always seeking attention hopefully the positive kind .I agree that kids dont seem to be cursing more, but adults are I hear it all the time ..

I don't curse, but DH does let things slip sometimes around the kids.  I'll never forgot one night when my 4 y/o got out of bed and came out into the living room, where I was cleaning. I had moved the furiture out.  He took one look around and said, loudly, "WTH are you doing?"

My jaw dropped and finally I said, "WHAT did you say??" and he gladly repeated it. :)
He obviously had NO idea anything was wrong, so I calmly told him those were "bad words" and we don't use those.  Making a big deal of it can make it worse.

Incidentaly- same son-- couldn't pronounce "tr" and used "f" instead.  We about died everytime he said "truck", a word he used 100s of times a day, but tried not to let on so that he wouldn't continue saying it for our amusement.

Overall, in my area, I don't think kids use bad language anymore today than when I was a kid.  Middle schoolers trying to be cool, sure, but not around their parents. :)

I think parents and other people just hide it less now... so the kids pick up on it. The kids I watch don't use cuss words, it is absolutely not allowed and they'd be in trouble if they did. Though I've heard many kindergartners say cuss words when helping out in a friend's classroom. It's really sad. Have to repeatedly tell them it is not ok to use that kind of language. It's a bad word, go move your clip. lol.

When my oldest who is now 20 was 4, I took him and his little brother (aged 18 months) to the beach while my husband attended a conference there.  On the elevator filled with old ladies (grandma types) he looked up and said "Will someone push the dam* button!"

He'd never cursed before and frankly I don't where he heard it.  We were very careful about our language at home.  I looked at him and promised him a mouth washing when we got to the room.  When we got there I put a tiny amount on the tip of his tongue and had him rinse with lots of water.  He HATED it!!  Never cursed again and warned his siblings of the dangers of cursing in front of mom!

I'll say this about soap in the mouth.  A tiny bit won't hurt them.  But if you coat their tongue with it. it will make them very sick.  I knew this at the time.  But I do have one friend who got so exasperated with her oldest that she put hot sauce on her tongue.  And she's a kindergarten teacher!  That's a bit much for me.  I just went for the awful taste.

my 7 year old brother learned "wth" from several sources and "dam it" (ill admit, mainly from me), but i just tell him that you have to be older to say it, and it works a little. he still says them every once in a while but considering my parents dont know that much english (and i dont think they would care) and that i dont really care that much since its only those two words, he's fine.
