Spiders hate a mixture of pure coconut oil mixed with vinegar. Spray this mixture in the corners of the room and where you see webs, and you won't see them anymore.
Cockroaches- tabasco sauce and water.
Flies and mosquitos. Tie cheesecloth into little sacks and fill with basil mixed with catnip.
I had that problem, too Margy. Ants hate patchouli oil and they hate Bay leaves. I put bay leaves into all my cabinets and drawers in the kitchen. I also put a dab of Patchiouli here and there. Unfortunately, they don't carry patchouli oil at Hobby Lobby, and I had to order mine online. You may know this already but, Patchouli Oil stinks to high heaven by itself, so a little dab in the most concentrated areas will do the trick. Also, clean affected areas with vinegar every few days. Not sure if that is because they hate it, or it hides the smell of their pheromones or what. I just know it helps.
will it get rid of ants no matter what goes down in the way of pesticides I have ants eveywhere ....those sugar ants never had a year like it, any ideas .?
My cat is very predatory and I dont like that part of her, she brings in Lizards alive , with out their tails but I rescue them and put them back outside , the tails make me freak out as they continue wriggling after they are not part of the lizard ...I screamed first time I saw it ..I try to stop her catching birds, the gophers she is never quick enough I am glad to say but its so funny to see her pouncing to try grabbing them, then digging at the hole, so I am going to try peppermint, you are one useful granny to know ...
I am the biggest softie in the world when any animal dies, but one, and that is mice. When I see my cat coming in with a mouse in his mouth, I'm always pleased. I saw the damage inside our walls during the remodeling of our house, a mouse nest inside every 2x4 bay and over every window and several between the chimney and the wall. It was enough to make you mad at the mouse population forever.
Haha! Doesn't want to get his paws bloody, huh? Can't say I blame him.
Cats are great for getting rid of vermin. Unless you have my cat...the lazy butt. :o/
What to do with the remainder of the Peppermint oil?
Make yourself some Peppermint bath salts using epson salt, Bath salts are great for relieveing tired, sore muscles, and they make your skin soft. Add red food coloring to the epson salt, along with the peppermint. Now, add glycerine (a liquid skin softener) and almond oil, which can both be found in the same aisle as the Peppermint oil. Almond oil serves the dual purpose of a skin softening agent, plus, it acts as a carrier oil for the peppermint oil, making it last longer. You can put in a decorated mason jar or ziploc bag and give as gifts at Christmas.
It merely forces them to go and find shelter elsewhere, and yes, I believe it will work on gophers, Hobby Lobby is an amazing art and craft supply store. Look them up online for a location nearest you. They are closed on Sundays, always.
Sounds like a great plan,I don't like using traps they're barbaric,At the moment I use the traps that catch the mice then we release them away from the house in some bushland. But I think a deterrant would be much better.

Wow .. what is Hobby Lobby?
We recently had a mouse problem that ate thru the wires in my wall oven and voided my extended warranty!
I like the oil .. does it kill them or disuade them?
