What is YOUR opinion on Jon and Kate?
A few weeks ago I read a journal about Jon being at a college party, well lo and behold the media has gotten into it. what's your opinion?

If you’re a fan of the Gosselins of Jon & Kate Plus 8 fame, fear not: The reality star parents say that despite the rumors, they have no plans to split.
Speculation started after Jon was reportedly spotted at a party thrown by a couple of female students from Juniata College in Huntington, PA, where his mom lives. The busy dad apparently took a bit of time off to play some beer pong with his fellow party-goers.
Jon didn’t deny attending the party, but did say that it was “hurtful” that something very innocent was blown so far out of proportion.
“It is certainly hurtful for people to spread rumors and lies about us. It certainly makes me reluctant to live my life like the average person would. This has made it very clear that the simplest innocent gesture - such as taking a picture with a fan, can be taken out of context.”

From what I've read on another website, a photo of Jon was taken with fans and it was completely misrepresented.
I'm not a fan of their show. Their children are precious but I just couldn't get over how demeaning Kate came across to Jon-I watched a few episodes thinking it was a one time thing and apparently not. So I simply don't watch it.

Last I saw on the show Jon was still working, he was just working from home. Did that change and I missed it? They also get income from Kate's books and her traveling to do book signings, which in my eyes is legitimate work--that's how authors make a living. I think Jon transitioning to working at home and Kate giving up her nursing career and ultimately pursuing a career writing about her experiences seems sensible in terms of decisions that will maximize the amount of time that they can each spend at home with their children. Yes, she travels to promote her books, but this is minimal compared to the amount of time she would spend outside of the home as a nurse, and she has only begun to do this as the children have grown older and more independent from her and as Jon was able to be home with them due to his working from home arrangements. Aren't these the kinds of decisions that would yield financial security for any large family, but still enable the parents to be actively involved in their children's lives?
As for Kate being "mean," I think some people are overly critical of her. Kate definitely has a very "type-A" personality and likes to have things just-so. She openly admits her fondness for orderliness, lists, calm, and control. These very qualities are assets to her large family--have you noticed the relative lack of chaos and how efficiently things get done in that household? How everything has a place and manages to get put away and she keeps on top of the household tasks and doesn't have children getting lost in stores or straying into the road--even with the little bit of help she gets, this really is a feat if you really know what she has been up against. I agree that she can be abrasive at times; I also would hope that Jon, her husband, knows this is her personality and doesn't expect her to be sugar and spice all the time. I think she is demonstrative of her affection, just not when she's busy trying to wrangle 8 children in a public place, etc.
No one will come off looking angelic being filmed 3-4 days a week in their own home. It's all too easy to be judgmental of others, without realizing how vulnerable we would be in the same situation.

why do they have those types of reality shows? i'm sure there's more then 2 or 3 families who have 8-20 kids. do you see them on tv? no. are they getting free houses, cars (or tummy tucks after having sextuplets.....) nope. no hand outs. nothing quiet like exploiting your kids for hand outs.

anyone anticipating that octo moms gonna go the same route and by natural curiosity people will watch, and Jon and Kate may be trumped, thus SOL on the money from their show? and as I have said before Kate is mean!!!!!
i'm not a huge fan of jon and kate. or table for 12...or any of those shows. i don't know why but ehhh i just don't like em. kate seems to be...not super nice. she's rude and just doesn't seem happy. table for 12....i dunno those shows just rub me the wrong way.

I endured that show just once, adoring the good looks of all involved. After my son is in bed though, the last thing I want to see is eight more kids plus parental tension. It just makes my head explode. Headaches aside, aren`t impending divorces part of all those "reality" shows? To keep the momentum? Like Heidi and that Spencer guy? It is probably all staged.
I was just going to add that...They have their moments, as young children will, but they appear very normal, well adjusted children....(I can only imagine the octo-mom and her 11 kids,,,from the short clips I saw on ET, they seem FAR from well adjusted and normal)
I think Kate treats Jon like he is stupid and he seems to be an intelligent man...shes very curt and bossy to him...I enjoy the show occasionally the kids are or atleast appear to be normal kids they are good but occasionally have their naughty moments..

I have just started seeing a few episodes of this show. I stay up late and the last couple of nights they have marathons of this on, and it better the same ol reruns on food network. I think I might start watching the seasons from the beginning. I actually like it. I do agree that she is a little mean to Jon, but as others have pointed out...if a camera was taping my family constantly and picking and choosing moments that made for good TV...I would probably look just as bad. i think the sextuplets though they are so cute....one of the episodes I saw was when the tool Alexis to the lizard place and showed her the "aldigator"...TOO cute.
Well Kate has written 2 books from what I understand and that's pretty good income right there... I believe they are paid by TLC for their television show (if not they are insane for allowing that camera crew in their home everyday.)

Jon doesn't work anymore??? Gosh, I haven't watched it in ages and look what happens? What are they living on?
yeah, I read her book "multiple blessings" it was really a good book and explained everything, but seriously... It's what they chose, she should make the best of it and realize this is what she wanted and not take it out on him so much.
I agree, I often feel so bad for Jon and how she treats him...I would never talk to my husband like the way she does sometimes...It is very belittling, and I think if if he didn't love his children so much and literally NEEDED to be there for them, I don't see how he could put up with that treatment...but if you have ever seen the episode where it showed how they started out, when they were just a young couple w/o any children-they seemed so in love and almost pukey-sickening with all their 'love'-I can imagine all those changes over 10 years would cause one to be a bit b***hy, but she really should lighten up with her hubby.
I like the show, but its beginning to wear on me, just a little.
As melimeli pointed out, if they taped my life there would be PLENTY of episodes where I would be painted in a very unflattering way.
However, I do agree that it seems like they are getting used to all the freebies, and are forgetting to be grateful. Seems like they expect these things now.

I agree. I never liked Kate either
she always belittles Jon and makes him seem like an idiot and she does it right in front of all the kids. She seems like a huge bully and honestly I feel bad for Jon, but I dont think it was smart to go out to a college party if he wants to have a "normal" life.. I dont know if this is a good assumption to make or not, But i dont think NORMAL 30 year old men go out to college parties....

Even if it were innocent his remark about living life like a normal person is ridiculous. You put your life on tv and expect it to be just like everyone else's? Get real. I never liked them at all. I felt like Kate was always mean to the one girl twin because she didn't want to be mommy's little helper. I felt like she was always nasty to Jon. I know that it can be overwhelming but she is irritating with her nagging.
I agree that the show has change.. I think that Kate has gotten a taste of fame and enjoys the handouts they are getting.. I really love the show but you can just tell that things are so different now.. Animasity between the couple has grown and they just have so many nice things because of having so many children and I dont think that's right. If they wanted to do "reality" television they should act like a "realistic" couple with multiples. Im sure there are others out there with 8 children who dont have all the free handouts they have and work for a living.. That's the only part that has begun to bug me.
About the whole party scene, I can understand that Jon would want to get away! I'd be running if I were in his situation, but a college party? seems strange...

I love the show. I think the children are adorable (there older Daughter Madelyn reminds me SOOO much of my dd Madelyn, they even have the same name!;) I think Kate can be so demeaning to Jon and a b***h, and you can see that if you watch enough of the show. I am sure they are not perfect people, or perfect parents, they have never claimed, from what I have seen of the show. I think they are doing the best they can, given their circumstances. In fact, I probably would be just as b***hy as Kate, if I were in her shoes. She has a lot to keep in order, and then to live you life in front of a camera for the whole world to see, can't be easy, because your best AND worst moments are captured. Jon and Kate often remind me of myself and my DH, as he is the more laid back one and I can be uptight sometimes, lol!

Their sextuplets are about the same age as my oldest, so my almost 4 year old LOVES the show, she call it 'plus 8'. ;0
But now that they have their big million dollar home and have clearly gained fame, with that come speculation and criticism. You must expect it. If they don't want to be in the spot light, perhaps they should not sign on for another season, and drop back from the public eye and just live their lives. I suspect that won't happen, as I am sure they are getting many pretty pennies at this point.

I like em... kate can be a b but we all can... I mean imagine them taping your life and picking the moments to show in an hour... I am sure during a week I they could find an hour worth of me being a b
I love Jon & Kate plus 8. I was also upset about the rumors. People can take things and blow them out of proportions. Everyone should mind their own business, IMO.
